SACD from the relatively new German label, Neos.
Jimmy Giuffre 3, â1961â ECM/Verve disc 1.
Ambrose Akinmusire âThe Imagined Savior is Far Easier to Paintâ
from 2006 on Mode. Compositions from 1946-1966.
Duke Ellington & Alice Babs âSerenade to Swedenâ Reprise album reissued on cd.
Disc 1. Miles Davis âThe Bootleg Series Vol.1â
Had a Elgar minifestival at my house the last few days. All are SACDS and sound excellent thru my system. The CHANDOS SACDs are very natural sounding and transparent; the Brabbins performance on Glossa is a little slower and the recording is slightly more distant but is still very satisfying.
Of the five fillers, I enjoyed the orchestrated organ sonata most.
A couple weeks ago, the minifestival featured Mahlerâs Third Symphony.
Listening to the John Coltrane Quartet, 11/17/1962 LâOlympia Theatre, Paris. Second Set.
Listening to the Copenhagen '67 concert in Vol.1 of the Miles Davis Bootleg Series. . . . Listened to this and more from this set yesterday. This is the first time Iâve compared the US/Europe version to the Japan Blu-Spec CD version and theyâre different listening experiences. Both are excellent listening experiences.
And. . .Tony Williams. These guys were like a rock band in some ways by '67 and Tony is jazz drama incarnate.
Clarice Assad âImaginariumâ Adventure Music CD
As the title may suggest this is all over the place a really enjoyable listen with showpiece sonics.
The Andy Bey Trio âIt Ainât Necessarily Soâ
It has been too long since I heard some Andy.
from 2010 on the RCO Live labelâŚ
Absolutely lovely, charming performance with typical Alia Vox warm, immediate sound.
