Disc 1. Miles Davis “The Bootleg Series Vol.1”

Had a Elgar minifestival at my house the last few days. All are SACDS and sound excellent thru my system. The CHANDOS SACDs are very natural sounding and transparent; the Brabbins performance on Glossa is a little slower and the recording is slightly more distant but is still very satisfying.

Elgar: Symphony No. 1 / Organ Sonata Elgar: Symphony 2 / In the South Elgar: Symphony 3 / Pomp & Circumstance March 6

Symphony No 1 in a Flat Major Op 55: Kingdom Op 51

Of the five fillers, I enjoyed the orchestrated organ sonata most.

A couple weeks ago, the minifestival featured Mahler’s Third Symphony. smile

Listening to the Copenhagen '67 concert in Vol.1 of the Miles Davis Bootleg Series. . . . Listened to this and more from this set yesterday. This is the first time I’ve compared the US/Europe version to the Japan Blu-Spec CD version and they’re different listening experiences. Both are excellent listening experiences.

And. . .Tony Williams. These guys were like a rock band in some ways by '67 and Tony is jazz drama incarnate.

As the title may suggest this is all over the place a really enjoyable listen with showpiece sonics.

Absolutely lovely, charming performance with typical Alia Vox warm, immediate sound.
