Jealous!
Frank Bridge: Piano Trio No. 2
Been busy working on national and state taxes. Sigh. Didnât post these but listened to:
Carmen McRae âHavenât We Met?â Mainstream Records/Solid Records CD Japan
Miles Davis âBagâs Grooveâ Analogue Productions SACD
âIberiaâ Debussey/Ravel Analogue Productions SACD
âThe Sound of Jazzâ Analogue Productions SACD
Ferociously energetic chamber music brilliantly performed in an ideal acoustic space capturing every nuance- -
Dieter Ammann: Gehörte Form â Hommages I â II â III, for string trio
Ensemble FĂŒr Neue Musik ZĂŒrich
Iâm not sure which of the various masterings/releases sound best, however, this one, on Definitive Records, is quite good. No engineer credits listed.
Probably stole the mastering from Japan! Definitive does nt have access to any master tapes or discs or original material. . . . . They remaster othersâ work.
Right now
This lovely album. . . really a wonderful cd. Cassandra Wilson âAnother Countryâ
Alexander Goehr: Suite for Violin and Piano (2000)
Ning Kam, violin
Daniel Becker, piano
Back to this one. Anyone interested in well-recorded acoustic and electric guitars should check this one out.
Beat Furrer: Nuun, for two pianos and ensemble (1995/6)
Marino Formenti & Florian MĂŒller, pianos
Klangforum Wien/Peter Eötvös
Bob Dylan âNew Morningâ Mobile Fidelity Lab SACD. One of my favorite Bobs, sounding so good this morning.
Miles Davis âMilestonesâ Mobile Fidelity Labs SACD
Just amazing music that never loses the power to kick my ass. Calm little Miles sitting there all relaxed . . . when inside the cover the music is waiting to explode.
I too often find that the sacd sounds no better than rb. Itâs frustrating. Is this one truly better?
Hmmm. . . I donât often find that to be the case. Anyway in this case mastering matters. This is mastered in my opinion better than all the Sony/Columbia digital versions Iâve heard except perhaps the 32Bit one. . .sounds really really good.
Disc 1 of this four disc set released today. These are the MONO versions of the albums and hot damn they sound good. Mastered by Seth Foster, good job Seth!
Lonson, than Louis Armstrong looks like a good one. Gonna try to pick that up tonight.
Such a difficult week. Ahhh feels good to be in front of my stereo. As Iâve said before, I just love this series. Perfect, music for my tastes and mood. âŠand everyone of the discs are in the DR of 13 to 15 range. Oh so glorious. If thatâs not good enough, most of these disc feature Idris Mohamed or Bernard Purdie on drums. This one has Bernard Purdie.
Picked up. Thanks. I love the internet: I hate the internet!
