Been to the Checkboard Lounge a few times back in the day. King and 43rd if I remember correctly. Never made it to their “new” location in Hyde Park. Both are closed now.
Seems like Chicago Blues only thrives anymore in the touristy north side (Buddy Guy’s place in the south loop being one exception - he owns the entire block). For any Chicago people or visitors, there is a good Blues place in the near west suburbs:
