This stream from a great radio station in SLC is only 128k but sounds as though its 320k or more. Bitrate isn’t everything for sure!
Bonzo’s birthday today. My uncle managed a Licorice Pizza record store in SoCal, I remember as a teenager listening to this LP the day it was released or probably a couple days before since he had access.

Been to the Checkboard Lounge a few times back in the day. King and 43rd if I remember correctly. Never made it to their “new” location in Hyde Park. Both are closed now.
Seems like Chicago Blues only thrives anymore in the touristy north side (Buddy Guy’s place in the south loop being one exception - he owns the entire block). For any Chicago people or visitors, there is a good Blues place in the near west suburbs:

… And one more amazing live album of Chicago blues (although this one was recorded in Montreux, Switzerland in June 1974, making the cheesy Checkerboard Lounge cover art that much more inappropriate!).
