Keeping it gloomy. Gutter Twins, Saturnalia
This one again. . . because it sounds so good and the music suits my mood. (It was one of the few Ultimate HQCD titles cdjapan is selling for 1000 yen on sale, great price).
âOscar Pettifordâ Bethlehem Records/Solid Records Japan Ultimate HQCD
Piano Sonata No. 3 in f minor, Op. 5
Red Mitchell âHappy Minorsâ Bethlehem Records/Solid Records Japan Ultimate HQCD
With Candoli, Sims, Brookmeyer, Williamson and Levey.
Some pictures from my recent NOLA trip. Went for Satchmo fest. As part of the festivities, there was a service at St. Augustine Catholic Church (in the Treme neighborhood) with the Treme Brass band and a 2nd line following the service. Such a spirit of life. It is funny, step out of church and you can smell the weed and find folks selling beer for $2 out of coolers.
Notice the picture of Louis on the right hand side of the picture. The Treme Brass band up front.
Treme Brass band stepping out of church to lead the second line.
The Satchmo Festival: Don Vappie. A Dannie Barker protege. Outstandingly fun!
Robin Barnes: A beautiful young woman with a fantastic talent and spirit
Big Chief Donald Harrison: Closed the show on Sunday. Wow!
Looks like an awesome day, thanks for the pics!
I am listening to a sound sample of âIn Memory of Elizabeth Reedâ that opened the Allman Brothersâ performance on February 14, 1970 from this new Owsley Stanley Foundation release here.
More info on this interesting new release is available here.
Looking forward to downloading the full set of reels in high-res PCM here.

Django Reinhardt âRenown and Resistanceâ JSP box set, disc 1
I have that set. I like it. Donât remember but is that an R.T. Davies mastered set?
No, itâs a Ted Kendall remastered set. (Kendallâs work is very Davies-like).
I caught the 'Dusters live on Halloween night 2015 at Higher Ground in South Burlington, Vermont ⌠what a killer show! The tracks on this live compilation were recorded a few months later. Great stuff if you are into jamgrass!

Antonio Carlos Jobim âPassarimâ recent Japanese CD
I love the albums Jobim did in the late 'eighties with his âA Banda Novaâ. . . . Love those lovely women singing with him.
Is this sacd worth buying?
IMO yes, if you like Kind of Blue this SACD sounds very very good.
