What are you spinning right now?

Mary Lou Williams, with Ronnie Boykins of Sun Ra fame, and Jo Jones of Count Basie fame. Very good.

Music to soothe a brain on fire…ahhhhh? Disc 2

Know this record is considered an oddity but I really dig it!! Both men are Rushmore material IMHO.

Playing 24/96 FLAC. Great music but the sound is not worthy of high definition. I’ve slowed down my high definition purchases of late. Red Book sounds so good on my system now…

Spent yesterday taking the system apart and moving it so that it was ready for a new living room rug which arrived at five, and then I spent the evening putting the system back together.

Finally everything is warmed up again and playing and boy was the music missed!

I really like this. Bitches Brew material utilized and embellished with a very modern sensibility.

This time it’s the CTI Supreme Series Blu-Spec CD version. Which sounds spectacular (in its mellow fluid way).

Love this music so much.

This SACD again. Perfect for this afternoon.

The Japanese LP facsimile RVG cd.

Been too long since I heard this great disc. And it got Lucy dancing around the living room a bit, a good thing!

And yes, it’s loud.

Arguably the most influential Blues record ever. Sounds great too.

Just installed balanced cables today from the DS to SLP-05 to BHK 250. Liking balanced so far. A few funky things happened. Have to track it all down (finicky hobby). Had to use the 20db attenuate button on the DS. Works like a charm. Thanks Ted!

P.S. Even though Muddy Waters is not on this record, Muddy’s last house was a stone throw from where I live (Western Chicago Suburb). He died in a very modest house and called it paradise: because it is!

From Chicago to New Orleans: my favorite route. One of the deepest veins of music in human history? You would have an argument.

Glorious Sunday!!

The great Cosimo Matassa!! NOLA Rock N Roll!

Bear Family: the Americana equivalent to Mosaic. So crazy it took a great German label to repackage some of America’s best culture. Thank You Bear Family!

Buck Owens, West Coast representing.
