What Classical are you spinning?

Carolyn Sampson is perfect for this role. I bet the performance is wonderful.

The performance is wonderful indeed. I too am a Carolyn Sampson fan!

It wouldn’t surprise me, though, if there were better recorded versions out there. This one’s a bit congested sounding to me.

There’s a 2018 Linn recording of the piece, also with Sampson, that got good reviews.

These are all excellent but BWV 134 is, for me, among the very best of all of Bach’s sacred cantatas.

What do you think would be Chrisj1948’s favorite 3 Bach string albums? Guess if you must. I would like to play Bach string quartets while his wife is recuperating. Wishing her speedy recovery.

I wasn’t familiar with Eastman’s work. A rather challenging body of work to my ears. His inner emotional turmoil and conflict was certainly evident in his harmonic and rhythmic tendencies.

Julius was a rather complex individual, not fully appreciated in his day. Fortunately work continues in unearthing and performing his compositions. Being a bit of a “fan” of Meredith Monk I can relate to Eastman’s music. The following provides for a few insights:
