Francesco Zappa (1717-1803): Six Symphonies

Interesting recent compilation of Texas garage/lofi/psychedelic/fuzz bands covering classic Zappa tunes. The cover of “Flower Punk” by Bitter Critter makes the case that Zappa invented punk rock (or at least predicted its arrival) in 1968 when We’re Only In It for the Money was released. Well worth a listen/name-your-price download.

I have quite a few bootleg concerts on cassette tape, will have to dig them out and see if I have the Osaka.
“The Eyes of Osaka” was reissued recently by Leftfield Media under the title, “Osaka Nights.” The new double-CD’s packaging states that the source is an FM radio broadcast, but I suspect it is the same (very good) audience recording that appears on “The Eyes of Osaka.”
Either way, I would not buy the bootleg, as it does not benefit the Zappa Family Trust (not that I am fan of the ZFT’s Ahmet Zappa, but I am confident that Frank Zappa would not want people paying money to bootleggers).
