Yale upgrade

Elk said I am planning to try the author's recommended near-coincident crossed overlapping cardiods (fig. 5 if I recall correctly).
I recorded two concerts (full orchestra) in the last couple of weeks with this technique. It worked brilliantly. Excellent timbre and a life-like soundstage - diffuse as in real-life, not pin-point studio imaging.

I own a phonitor headphone amp that does some really cool sound positioning. Very cool only issue is I wish the amp was better overall.

The Phonitor’s processing is both much more sophisticated and wholly unrelated to the processing performed by the Voxengo M/S plug-in.

But having played with the Voxengo plug-in, I understand why some enjoy it. It is super sweet ear candy that expands the stereo image making everything big and spacious and dramatic.
