Yale Final

Is it only me or everyone is having same experience with Yale Final.

The sound has changed so dramatically. I’m using DirectStream Dac from the pre-order lot and probably this is the upgrade which for me the most significant so far.

The bass is so defined, the voicing is properly balanced between the high and low frequency, the Cymbal sound is so perfect (it is my reference instrument), and the piano. Applied the upgrade today morning and I can’t help but keep on listening one album after the other. It is so magical to me.

Is everyone else experiencing similar change ? May be good or not so good or bad for you but there is a huge change. Especially when I play the ripped red book CDs, PCM 172/24 and DSDs. Not that much noticeable change for low def mp3s like AAC etc - though they are sounding too reasonably soothing. It has changed my overall system’s characteristics (with Tube pre amp and Tube Power Amps) completely.

Thanks a lot Ted for your continuous strive to make this DAC better and PS Audio allowing free upgrades. You guys have made my day today !!!

Sourav

I’m still using an earlier version (yale not-final). Have been too lazy to upgrade. Is it worth the effort going to final?

Surely think so. There is big difference. At least to me.

It should not take more than 10 minutes to upgrade. Download, Unzip, Transfer in a SD card, Switch off the DAC, Insert the SD Card, Switch On. In next 5 minutes it is ready to play.

Sourav

I've had many late night listening sessions that never started out that way. "Just one more song, then I'll go to bed....."

Sound familiar?

Yale final was definitely an improvement for me, as it seems to have been for the majority of folks who have commented. But the great thing about PS Audio products is that if you end up preferring an earlier firmware, you can go back just as easily as you installed the newer version. So there's nothing to lose.

Yes!!! Just do it.

Me too. Actually more than one song.

I generally listen for long sessions with my all tube rig at least 6-7 hrs or more and zero listening fatigue. Only with the DS has that been possible. This device is absolutely magic.

Mine can only wonder what more is possible when Ted/Paul and Co release the next OS upgrade.

I too thought Yale Final was great (and it is) but eventually I decided the last beta was betta in my system and my ears.

Best is to try it for a while and it’s easy to change FW versions (keep both handy). Trust only your system and your ears.

Wow, those are serious listening sessions.

No listening fatigue, but what about butt fatigue?
