Your 1st Album YOU purchased?

Taylor had actually signed the pressing in the center lead-out…

I don’t think I answered this before but I am pretty sure the first album I bought on my own was the second Blood Sweat & Tears lp, bought in downtown M’Babane, (then) Swaziland. Thick, European vinyl. Still have it.

Heart - Love Alive. My fav track.

Kiss - Hotter Than Hell

OK - it’s Fantastic that there hasn’t been a Dynamite Sound Explosion of Stars who Believe In Music reciting the Block Buster Music Power of K-Tel Records here… (or the Columbia House Record Club - 11 albums or cassettes for a PENNY!)
Having possibly admitted something here… the first vinyl album - of a band - I picked, paid for in person & walked out of Zellers was:
Queen - Night At The Opera. I still consider it a masterpiece. I have Some unbelievable achievements in analogue tape recording. The two radio hits (the overly-flogged-to-death Bohemian Rhapsody & You’re My best Friend) are my least favorite tracks. The Prophet’s Song is still Queen’s Best (IMO).Bought it 2 more times over the years. Anyone else wear out albums regularly?

First CD - Talk Talk - Color Of Spring.

I’m both astounded and impressed that people can remember the first album that they purchased. For me, it means going back about 50 years and I think that it was Against the Grain by The Stampeders.

Easy for me and that was 45 years ago… I remember it all very well and I could not stop playing Thick as a Brick. I even listen to it to this day… Ian Anderson keeps re-issuing it remastering and what not. Still a great piece of music, complex, accessible… just great.

“Love Songs” by The Beatles. Released in 1977.

I bought the LP when I was 13 years old or so… around 1980. Had a certain girl in mind.

I played it on the Lloyds stereo I got for my birthday that year. Good stuff.

Jackson Browne - Running on Empty.

1977 - I was all of 10 or 11.

I remember a lot of record-store purchases, oddly enough. Probably because we were kids and there wasn’t much else to crowd the brain.

Much easier to remember records bought than files downloaded.

Ain’t that the truth. For me it might have something to do with the decades between events.

What may be part of that… the wonderful real estate of an album cover…

I used to pour over that stuff… reading who played, who produced… whatever I could suck off of that thing. I discovered new artists from that stuff. CD booklets just didn’t cut it.

Iron Butterfly - Inna Gada Da Vida.

I so pressured my mother into letting me buy that. For the drum solo.
