Sorry Al, I don’t know what you mean. It’s been a long day!
There are two parts to the Intona solution, the cable, which is yet another USB cable. The important part is the noise reduction box, they call it a USB Filter. You unplug your USB cable from the DAC and plug it into the box. Then from the box you use the Intona USB cable to connect to the DAC. You can read about it in the recent Stereophile review of both the May DAC and the two piece Intona USB noise solution.
I’m not thinking the cable itself is going to be an improvement over my current selection of cables…
I tested with the 2.0 not the 3.0 in the Stereophile review. With the 2.0 I couldn’t hear any difference. I was using Transparent Audio USB cables. This was used between a Sonora ultraRendu (powered with a LPS) and a DSD.
I tried to like it, but I just couldn’t hear any difference.
I see the 3.0 has AUX power as an option. Will you be powering the 3.0?
Since the NVidia Shield Pro uses a power tip that’s difficult to source, I cut it off and soldered it to a cable that attaches to a 19V 2.1A LPS.
Yet another tweak that I didn’t notice the difference. But, if I didn’t try, it would have slowly driven me crazy from wondering
@aangen - Did you see this version?:
Yes sir, I ordered that and a short cable.
I guess I’ll try it powered and not powered. I have a few supplies. I’ll be hooked up to my Signature Rendu Optical Streamer.
Hmmm but he still sells them and my did not have rubber feet either. Not all tweaks work in every one’s system. My router/switch was more sensitive than the i5 but both could be heard as improvements with better LPS.
Interesting. The Stereophile review is the 7055-C. I am curious about the 7055-D. Please update us with your impressions.
I will. The main reason why I was interested is due to that review. Herb thought that after the healing crystals aligned properly the aura of the audio system changed and now matched the aura of his spirit animal. How can I say no to that? Herb is kind of a hippie. I like him anyway being kind of a hippie myself.
no, wait…
A real bizarre thing I found was different and better LPS on streamer and switch made me like different ethernet cord between the streamer and switch. The CAT7 referenz Inakustik vs their CAT6. Things were transformed. If you have different cords might try that with the Teddy Pardo in. My best LPS is HDPLEX 300 that Andrew at AGC sells running all streaming sources.
I have my i5 on an isoAcoustics ISO stand.
My latest upgrade just arrived yesterday: an Innuos Phoenix USB reclocker. Without any break-in yet, this thing already sounds great! Very smooth, detailed, and real. Other than playing around with a few cables to fine-tune things further, I think my streaming system finally sounds wonderful. After using an ENO Ethernet filter to reduce noise on the Ethernet run to my Innuos Zen Mk3, the Phoenix cleans up the USB input to my DS DAC. I’m very happy with these upgrades!
Hi @owlsalum & @Sohail
I received communication from the dealer today: a new Rega Aura MC is heading my way on Monday!
Statistics show that a customer who had an issue that was properly resolved becomes more loyal than a customer who never had issues!
Awesome Serhan. I predict you’ll swoon once it is fully broken in. Like I posted above, I’ve chosen to leave mine powered 24/7 and it benefits greatly by doing so. It’s my reference solid-state go to phono stage. I have two in my stable I intend to keep until they break or I kick it. The other being my mighty Modwright PH 150 tube hybrid phone pre. I’m a lucky audiophile having two top shelf phono preamps to swap in at a whim … whenever I please.
Enjoy!

I upgraded the stock 14AWG power cord on my Stellar Power Plant this week to an Avius by Cullen cable. It’s 12 AWG, fully shielded, with all copper connectors. It cost me $165 shipped Priority Mail. The maker recommends 75 hours of burn in time before making any serious evaluation, but I can say at 50 hours or so, my system is already sounding better. I’m very glad I spent the extra money.
As for my next upgrade? I am hoping that won’t be for quite awhile. I’m really trying to enjoy what I have:
20 Amp circuit > Hubbel 5362 Receptacle > Cullen Avius Power Cable > Stellar Power Plant > Denon DCD1600NE > Nordost White Lightning Interconnects > Yamaha A-S801 > Nordost 4 flat speaker cables > Bowers and Wilkins 704S2 floorstander speakers
Your new cable should make and nice improvement for
you Stellar Power Plant…
There is good genius in the Cullen design group
Next upgrade is a new AK DAP.
Have an AK Kann, and I just purchased a new AK SE200. Will probably still end up using both units.
For those that don’t follow the spinning thread, I had the edcore xs4400s installed in my DSD by @wctaudio. I received the unit back last Wednesday. Everything went perfectly and I was charged a very fair (too fair) fee for the work.
I played music on the DSD for a few hours each day with the pre and amps off. Last night I fired up the whole system to listen and yes the improvement was immediately noticeable. The bass is tighter which opens up the entire presentation. A highly recommended upgrade.
My plan is to keep the DSD for another year or more before eventually upgrading to the mkii. I like waiting for the dust to settle before buying newly released gear. Given that, this upgrade was well worth it. I ordered the xs4400s from the edcore site and they arrived in about 3 weeks. Much shorter than the 10 weeks the site stated.
If your going to upgrade right away to the mkii, don’t see why anyone would consider this. However, if you’re going to wait, like me, it was worth every penny and small effort and much, much more.
Man, I don’t doubt it. Upgrading the power supply board in my streamer was a more significant change than most of the incremental add-on changes made with external boxes and cables, if not all of them in aggregate - and far cheaper. Though frankly that would be hard to say, as the board upgrade was made with the other stuff fully established as part of the streamer ecosystem. So I suspect all of that made it easier to hear what the board did.
Bit of a quandary. Tempted to keep the DS for a while after the II comes out, and don’t want to hack it if I’m going to sell it. Not planning on selling my Jr. Still love that DAC, and use it a lot. Though it shares a lot of DNA with the Sr., it is a different DAC.
