Happy Cake Day! Your AQ recommendation has made one cable fanatic very happy
The lovely Reed 3P that does VT, azimuth and anti-skate on the fly and is a brilliant performer. A nice guy called Steve made me an Ebony mounting plate to match the arm tube.
Last week Reed was signed up by the leading UK audio distributor and the price of this unit went up 20%. Sadly the small independent who I got this from will probably be cut out. Doesn’t help anyone.
It’s pretty. Is it easy to adjust?
Beautiful arm!
I hesitated pulling the trigger on a 3P coco bolo used at Artisan Fidelity once. I slept on it and it was sold the next morning…
What cart is mounted?

Best,

The little lever on the left is the VT micro-adjustment, on the top is the Azimuth lever and to the right the anti-skate know works by magnetic repulsion. As none are attached directly to the arm, it’s a complete breeze. The counterweight is so well made that it can be adjusted by 0.01g. It really is an engineering marvel.
The dealer bought one in for stock and I bought it within a couple of days of speaking to him. Glad I did, he even gave me a deal and a Zavfino DIN cable.
Currently a DV XX2Mk2 with Expert Stylus paratrace tip, I also have a DL103R with ES ruby cantilever and paratrace.
In due course, next will be a Phasemotion PP-200 or 300, big overperformers.
I e always admired artisan Fidelity’s work. There’s a chap over here who does much the same.
Hope your day was great!
Reed is an entrepreneurial and ultra high quality manufacturer. Their products are truly high end in every way.
Their prices used to be high, but still value for the money.
Unfortunately growth of scale of business costs money too and as soon as the big importers jump in, prices go through the roof in order to cover all risks for the importer.
The added value for the customer is being able to see, touch and listen to the products at licensed dealers.
Which is something really rare these days. Probably only those Audiophiles can afford visiting dealers who live in big cities close to those dealers.
I love going to dealers, but it requires big efforts, and that is not always appreciated by the dealers.
One time a senior sales person approached my while lifting the tonearm of an entry model turntable and told me not to touch it ?!
- I get it that they do that with children, but I am in my 50s and so is my wife who accompanied me.
- Did that sales person really think I took the effort to travel to his shop, bring my wife (which probably is more effort), being incapable of operating a tonearm without damaging it?
- Did he think that such first encounter is considered helpful to make me spend my money there, or ever come back?
I did not bother to tell him, we left and I look for a different dealer or buy on line from facilities that offer a decent return policy or products like Reed where I consider you can not go wrong.

Happy Cake Day!
Nice!
“we don’t make enormous turntables [like some of rega’s competitors] because we are engineers”
I think the kids would call that a “sick burn”…
Yes, back when there was The Scottish HiFi Show, before the world turned black, I would study those mammoth record decks - resembled the Berkut Oil Rig in both scale and price, but they never had a spectacular sound!
I’ve never heard one, but they remind me of a lathe or similar heavy engineering that’s been polished and chrome plated
Always a different way to skin a record player, but I prefer the idea of a table top one.
I found the mirror underneath it confusing at first though, thought it was a separate motor type of thing!
Interesting turntable. Having and still enjoying a Planar 8 with the Apheta 3 MC cart, I’d wondered about the Planar 10 with the Aphelion MC, and now there’s this Naia with the Aphelion 2 MC cart. Sure would like to demo the latter. From the What-HiFi article the official release is projected for Autumn 2023, with the Naia offered as a production version of the Naiad.
I have ordered one.! There’s a waiting list, shipping to commence in the autumn.
Good job! I’d need to demo one prior to committing to a purchase, but I must say I’ve been very happy with my Planar 8. IIRC you’ve the appropriate phono stage for it as well.
I like the simplicity of the design, and based on what I hear from a Planar 8, I’d most likely enjoy the sound.
Exactly… Just buying the turntable/cartridge - I have all the other necessary components in place.
DAMN YOU…

Not sure this will qualify as an upgrade, but the discounted price was somewhat reasonable and my interest was piqued:
Ordered one specified for the PSA P10 power regenerator this morning.
I wonder if it will make any discernible difference?
