Yes sir. He sold me mine.
Kyoto was one if the coolest places I’ve been to in Japan. Everything low-rise with a shrine on every block. I would love to go back. I was there the second day after a ling flight and I thought I was going to fall flat faced into my udon soup and sleep.
My current upgrade is going very slowly. I hope it’s worth it. Changes to the crossover of my speakers. Different capacitors and better resistors.
wow, DIY? What is different, soundwise?
Yes, DIY. The difference is significant. I would say on the order of a major component upgrade. Depth and transparency are greatly improved. Bass is more defined but not lower. I think the upper highs of the stock speaker sound rolled/soft. This has not improved with the mod.
Here is a photo of the reassembled speaker showing a very minimal bump out.
I had a pair of .7’s but sold them off. Wish I had them back!
Since I don’t listen to loud music I also bypassed the fuse and attenuator block. If you saw how cheap and junky the fuse block is you would do the same (e.g. riveted terminals).
yeah, i had one of those silver rods in the fuse clip (might be foolishness, but anyway)
Short of bypassing the fuse, a better fuse could be used. Also, the solid jumpers could be replaced as well. Cardas makes a short set for this purpose. Both helped with my Maggie’s.
Thanks for sharing your pics. Did you get your PSM-156 repaired?
I’ve just received my second PSM-156 and I have your same issue, mmm it might not be a coincidence but a poor quality assembly or material at this point.
Just for curiosity, can you also share a pic of your earth lug? I’ve noticed it’s different from my previous model.
Sorry to learn of your similar misfortune. I believe the nylon fasteners are vulnerable after speaking with the USA distributor. Mine remains in the shop, have yet to learn when it will be ready for pick-up. I’m none to keen on having it shipped. At that time I’ll share my experience, and a photo of the ground lug.
I didn’t open it (and I don’t want to do that, frankly) but my issue could be a little different. Looking at the ground lug, perhaps it is not different from my previous one but it is simply unscrewed and the internal plastic screw/pieces are loose. That’s what I’m hearing from the inside of the chassis.
Anyway I will ask my dealer to replace it tomorrow with a new unit.
I’ll keep you informed as well.
My first unit was perfect and is working well for months. Mah!
I am looking forward to getting mine back in house so I can hear what all the clamor is about regarding its performance. Going to audition some Wilson Audio speakers and integrated amplifiers tomorrow.

clamor
noun
- a loud and confused noise, especially that of a shipped package containing audiophile gear from Puritan. Expressly shipped for audiophile purists
Ha!
Sounded like shifting sands to me.
With time it will get worked out, in the mean time there has been a fair amount of buzz regarding the Puritan, so I though tit was time to give it a listen.
I’m moving on from my BHK preamp to most likely an LTA microZOTL preamp, but only because the BHK doesn’t have a tape loop. After about a 10 year hieatus, I resurrected my 1981 Teac X-10R R2R from my store room. I had it serviced and returned to like new playing condition. Hooked it up to the BHK; I’d forgotten how good it sounded. The only problem is, I can’t record. So, I’m going to fix that problem. I live about 30 minutes from the LTA office in Takoma Park, MD. I’m picking up a demo unit tomorrow.
Love to read your Webster definition of master fuses!
That is a sharp looking reel-to-reel. Are you considering the Acoustic Sounds tapes reissues, or the Barclay-Crocker tapes from the '70’s.
Like the sands through an hourglass, so are the days with a Puritan power distribution.
Sounds like the beginning of a long lived soap opera!
