The electricity company loves the consumption of my audio system…
Do you cause brown-outs in your neighborhood?
Certainly, even small seismic tremors…
I tried my P15 with it a while back, the Audible Illusions 3A benefited considerably, the Premier 11a, somewhat. The PSA DSD Mk I clearly liked the P15. I figured I’d give the Puritan a go, as the tube system tends to bloom with late night AC power from ComEd. Before I go with another Power Plant I’d consider new preamplifier and power amplifier.
I already have an abundance of those (4 preamps & 3 power amps)
As you know I own a Puritan 156. My experience with it is so much different than eveyone elses. Odd. For me the P20 is standout obviously better for sound.
I am in a similar situation, I believe last count I have 5 preamps, and 6 power amps.
I am looking for a less complex approach, having a P15 I understand its benefits and limitations. I do like to experiment. As our components, wiring and electric service vary I’d expect somewhat dissimilar results. My thought regarding the PSM 156, if its benefit is marginal in my situation(s) I’ll either try it in a video system or place it up for sale. I purchased it thinking it would offer some benefit.
My advice is to try, as a starting point, the PSM 156 to power “only” the DAC with the other sources connected to the P15. Then adding the digital components (like servers, streamers, switches) one at a time.
I just ordered a second PSM 156 and GroundMaster City for the amplifier units (having them separated on the front wall),
As noted earlier the P15 and the PSM 156 are at different homes, intentionally. I like your thinking in general, and thought similarly, with digital items in the PSM156, then add a preamp, and go from there.
My PSM 156 is in my home theater setup. I don’t know if it hurts or helps, but it is welcome to stay. It is nicely inexpensive. (to me at least)
Agree not much coin, just a matter of if it will offer any enhancement. As others have mentioned it offers some improvement.
It deadens the sound in my audio system. Not good.
I doubt much more could improve on your system Al…
My latest upgrade is the final Massive firmware. Settling in now and sounding great!!!
Thanks for sharing, as it will be something to listen for.
On a different note heard a Gigafoil v4 yesterday for the first time, and was surprised at how well it opened up the top end Will share more thoughts tomorrow.
I didn’t know Puritan equips them with SRMaster Fuses. My P-20 deadened my audio system and brain for 25 days while the master fuse was installed.
HaHa!
Doesn’t George deal with Puritan?
Wait! Puritan has fuse in it? Now I’m getting excited!
Kyoto is such a beautiful and culturally rich city, I can stay here for a few months, but we’re leaving in a couple of days. Sad!
