Ron, in my honest opinion if you have to ask the question to us, then the XAs didn’t move you enough to make the difference. At least for me, if something keeps me “thinking” about it then it’s an open question that it’ll be worth it in the long run. OTOH if you heard them and suddenly forgot you had another amp, that’s a bit different!
$210k a pair is a bit much for my system, but there is the Vitus 101 MkII on sale for $25k on Audiogon I might consider though.
If you ask me, I would say save your money. Your exsisting amps are plenty good.
Having a couple of space heaters in your living room in the summer is no fun. And then there’s the electric bill.
Was not aware of the Vitus SM-101 Mk II on Audiogon. Nice pair. Fine sounding amplifiers IME.
Sorry Rick. For that money, I’d have much more fun with a Porsche GT3 Touring.
On order? A buddy has the GTS 3, but then he streams YouTube on his 77" Sony OLED TV.
Tony–I love my amp.
But–stretch your arms out to the sides as far as they’ll go.
That’s a fraction of the difference. It’s not something you have to try to hear. And now I fear that I won’t be able to unhear it. bah
The price of temptation.
oooooo–I just thought of another check mark in the “buy them” column: The amps have circuit breakers so no fuses!
I amended the checklist above.
Photos?
Didn’t want to take any. Didn’t want to get too attached.
Oh, that’s a very bad sign.
The trick is, buy a 450 pound amplifier. Swapping such a beast out is unthinkable. And if you can, buy two of them.
But then you’ll have to match them with something like the Magico M7’s which weight 526 pounds each.
That looks like my mirror!
I’ll match your Magico M7’s with this 551lb challenger the magnificent Estelon Extremes probably my personal favorite speaker! Second to the CLX of course lol!
And don’t forget, there’s also the Wilson Chronosonic XVX at 685 pounds each.
Lucky for me the Wilson’s do nothing for me. I can’t speak for Chronosonic but I’ve heard it’s smaller sibling. My favorite Wilson is the Sabrina X. The Alexx V was nice but not for me. But if we are judging strictly by weight the Wilson wins this round.
But I will raise you one more time! I never heard them but there is no way this speaker doesn’t sound much much better then it looks the Vivid Moya M1 coming in at not so svelte 762lbs!!! Each!!
Now you’re talking Wilson WAMM and Magico M9 territory there. Those speakers are really for the insanely rich audiophiles like Al.
