Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

Ron, did you utilize WASP set-up procedure initially with dealer assistance? Mainly curious. I had dealer assistance with mine once they were more or less settled in. My room is rather restrictive concerning lateral separation, but distance from the rear wall and toe-in do have noticeable impact. The speakers are basically positioned similarly to the Genesis V they replaced.

Yes, the dealer spent hours setting them up. But i like to experiment.
Sometimes I move them back to their original markings.

It depends, cash, PayPal or Credit card?

A gift from my nephew, who I have been corrupting with the hifi germ.
A beautiful brass record weight by “Ship John”. Absolutely contrary to the recommendations of Linn for the LP-12, it does noticeably improve bass and lower mids. Go figure.

Did you re-tune the suspension? A friend used an HRS record weight on his Linn Sondek, an dwas pleased as punch. I suggested he replace the Akito with an Ittok or Ekos. Installing an Ittok and listening sans HRS weight opened things up. He is now considering an Ekos SE. The HRS is on rotation through various friends. Best suited to non-suspended turntables IME. The HRS can be a positive improvement with the right turntable and tonearm.

No. Although the weight has some weight–solid brass, it barely moves the suspension. And since the spindle is the center of gravity, it does so uniformly. The armboard is fractionally lower, but importantly, perfectly even and level.
I notice some pros and no cons.

You were able to retain the Linn bounce?
EDIT: Curious as to the pros you are hearing.
Your post reminds me I am due for a cartridge upgrade for my LP 12. Probably a Hana ML, unless I can track down some thing with a bit more detail without breaking the bank, as I just had a major spend, for me anyway, on a phono stage and MC for my primary system.

The springs are long, uniform rate. Bounces as normal.

Glad you are happy with it.

Me too!

Currenty have a Rega Apheta 3, Ortaphon 2M Black 250, and a Denon 301 MKII.

Cart grurus, I’m looking for a Audio Technica cart that’s at the sweet spot(price/quality) in their line up but sound signically different than the cartridges I own. Looking for musicallity over resolution at the moment, suggestions?

Thanks.

Familiar/have owned all three mentioned. AT ART 7 or AT ART 9 could be your next step. An alternative would be the Hana ML.

Thanks! bought a ART7 from LP gear, last 15 new stock in the world they say, would’ve waited otherwise.

Looks different in my room. But that could work.

I’d be happier with these pieces:

I could ignore streaming with that gear.

How do you like Gryphon power conditioner? Is it replacing P20?

I paid for it today (OUCH!) but I don’t have it yet.
When it comes I hope the P20 SMOKES IT!
If it doesn’t the P20 goes to the theater setup and the PSM-156 goes to my computer system.

By the way, one of our members is supposed to receive his first ever Stealth V17 Sakra LE Balanced Interconnects today. We don’t have many days like that.
(For his Grimm MU2 to BHK 600s)
(The only interconnects he needs)

OMG! I thought someone ordered a Dragon XLR, but even Dragon could be slayed easily in this case. The good thing is Stealth V17LE is not like a tree trunk around somebody’s neck, so it’s on my list too (after amps).
