To avoid boredom, I just treated myself to a bottle of Furutech nano Liquid gold/silver.
If thatās not a snake oil, I donāt know what it isš
Thank you Adiff P,
I do not look forward to the REL integration. While I love the music they make, REL makes it (for me) painfully difficult because of the poorly designed rear panel.
Uh-oh, I feel a rant coming on.
There are no position markings on RELs for the 2 controls to be adjusted, only tiny labels to tell which is which, and only a tiny pointer mark on the knobs. So, 6 times or more I have to walk around the room to turn on all the lights, put on my glasses, pull the RELs away from the wall, get down on my knees, bend over to see what I am doing, catch my glasses as they shift or start to fall off my upside down head, hit the back of my head on the wall, ā¦
Then I have to push the REL back into position, walk around the room to turn off or down the lights, take off my glasses, sit back down, relax after experiencing RELs thoughtlessness, try to remember what I heard 10 minutes before, knowing all the time I will probably have to do it again multiple times.
Then repeat for the 2nd REL.
All because John mis-designed the rear panel for elegance (I imagine) on a computer and workbench with strong, even lighting overhead. He has probably done it so many times he can almost do it in the dark. Apparently, John did not experience what many of his enthusiasts do. Many of us do not remember if the Gain or X-over is the left or right knob when viewing it upside down on our knees.
How come reviewers donāt point this out? Had a few of them done so, John Hunter, a really nice guy, would have done something about it.
Have I ranted on long enough in response to your brief msg of happy congratulations?
Thatās the stuff. My bottle has about 0.0000003% of the original amount remaining. I need to order more.
I wanted to start with my speaker cables. Unscrew the plug. Either cut off the copper cable end. Strip the insulation again and brush it with the anti-corrosion fluid, then screw everything back together. Fuses contacts. Maybe remove the tweeter as the copper cable is screwed there and not soldered. Only the paint on the speakers may be damaged when installing and removing. And then treat all contacts one by one. Anywhere where cables are screwed or plugged in. Maybe someone here has already had experience with it or can tell me where I shouldnāt use it. Someone here also suspected that his fuse was subsequently defective.
Iāve done all external contact points in my system, as well as all internal contact points. Speakers, amp, pre, dac, digital, power supplies, all cables, my forehead, etc. Biggest impacts were on power/digital. My usage has probably been on the more extreme end - Iāve even gone so far as to use it on my serverās cpu, ram, all molex connection points, etc.
When I used 2 RELs all the settings were made by ears, without moving the subs, just counting the āclicksā of the knobs.
Anyway I donāt use subs anymore and Iām happy. Enjoy your speakers!
I just opened the bottle. Is it normal that it is only half full?
I use a small mirror so that I donāt have to move the sub to read the back panel.
Hello mattā¦2,
Great work-around for REL issue. I will get a mirror with handle today as part of my audio toolkit. Thanks.
what is needed here clearly is a pair of trained butlers, or trained rabbits come to that, to turn the controls
Jomaā¦
60 years ago my first non-fish pet was a rabbit named Zsa-Zsa. (So named because her luxurious fur coat reminded people of the one Zsa Zsa Gabor wore in pictures.) Too bad Zsa-Zsa is not still here to help.
How does it taste?
My N31s are the first of many RELs that have a remote control and a very bright and easy to read front display. Mmmmm.
But the fancy remote has a power switch. If you forget to turn it off you will have dead batteries in two days. Weird.
I donāt remember exactly how full, but it was not completely full. Half, give or take 10% could be right. You just want to get the tiniest amount on the brush, wiping it off a few times inside the lip of the bottle before application. It really will go a long way.
havenāt applied the liquid yet. But now that it has been confirmed to me that the already small bottle is only half full, I will use it to treat the first areas. Before I met up with friends, I stopped at the hardware store. Instead of measuring the threads on my speakers, I made a comparison and looked at what adapters there were for threads. My thread is an M 14. There are M14 to M10 reducers at the hardware store. From what I saw, I should take photos of my feet for the speakers and send them to Stack before ordering.
Thank you for confirming that it is only half full.
āohā
Holy crap, I was wondering why the batteries were dead, I thought it was crappy batteries!
You have to learn the hard way that they must be running a small city inside it. Replace batteries in a remote? Not often. But for the REL Remote, put fresh batteries in, leave it on, and in two days they are dead. Why The Face?
