Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

Just order a Dragon PC to go with the PZ - they should both arrive about the same time.

Nope. All the cool people are using Gryphon Vantas.

Fair enough - Iā€™m gonna start with a Dragon and go from there.

And what about your new room project outside the house? How Iā€™d like to follow your step by step building process along that way.

Itā€™s a figment of my imagination. I thinking a former church now. All the serious players are going that route.

Oh I was forgetting the Big Competition, definitely thatā€™s the way unless you build it in your garden from scratch (than you celebrate some rituals for a while before converting it in your new audio room). Yours should be higher and larger to win, of course.
Think about a pipe organ to test bass response!!!

My HRS M3X2 Isolatin Base finially came after 2 months. They said it took extra time to have it anodized aluminum. Iā€™m welling to bet anodizing it black would take just as long. Anyway, I got it set up replacing the Symposium Ultra platform. The Symposium is now supporting my MK2 DAC. A double whammy benefit in isolation support. I compared the 2 platforms with the turntable and good as the Symposium is, the HRS does go a step further in sounding more rich, bold and even higher degree of papability. That sucker is pretty heavy too about 50 lbs. It aso comes with the feet included for a total price of $3k.

Nice setup and great contrast! It is quite amazing what a good rack can improve the sound too.

Congratulations!

Thank you Donald! The MK2 also improved significantly with the Symposium support.
Hereā€™s more pictures of both.

They look like desktop computers.

Iā€™ve seen those up close and I couldnā€™t live with them.

Absolutely!

I would use them in my super wamperdyne HTE set up and stand my full-size model of Iron Man nearby.

Seriously though, they have a good reputation so I could get over the ā€œgamer computerā€ resemblance.

Have been listening to PST + DS Mk2 and throw pretty much all kinds of disc to them, CDs, XRCDs, Super HQ CDs, SACDs, CD-Rs, etc, all performed flawlessly except this one, somehow the playback has a layer of noise on top of music, maybe because it is not a quality re-release; Too bad this is one of my all time favorite.

I found the original BELL release from Discogs and got one from Germany. It didnā€™t come with back sheet but fortunately the media and booklet are in decent shape. PST + DS Mk2 has no problem playing back this one, I am glad it worked out.

I donā€™t have any of the CDs or SACDs, but I just heard this vinyl version of Ray Brown & L.Almeida and it has the most realistic portrayal of the double bass I have ever heard from any other recording period! So much substance and with a growl you really feel in your guts right there in my room! A truly remarkable recording!
My just upgraded HRS platform may have a little to do with it, every thing I play sounds so much more real!

Vinyl rules my system. No doubt about that.
Heavily DSPed of course. I am not a cave person.

CDST
Pro-Ject DS2T CD transport. Suits my purpose and seems like good value for money.
Not an ā€œupgradeā€ of anything but I wanted a transport for CDs that still clutter my closet.
It seems to work well and sounds fine thanks to my hot rodded DSD 1.

Today my new Magneplanar 2.7i were delivered and set up. Cold out of the box they sound better than my 14 year old 1.7, except the top end is a bit ragged. Nothing a few hundred hours cannot fix. Also inserted Synergistic Orange fuses for bass and Purples for low/mid.

Called SR to make sure it is okay to use 2 different iterations. They said no problem. These things cost too much to throw away. Due to room layout, I will only have them 37" from front wall.

At end of September, I will start fussing with position and integration of 2 RELs. After that I will refocus on room acoustics (and interconnects). For now, I am delighted.
