Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

Just arrived today. A friend is letting me borrow it  since he knows I’m searching for a phono pre with multiple inputs.

A few days ago, I added an IsoTek V5 SYNCRO UNI 16 DC filter, which realigns the sine wave and filters out DC voltage. This eliminated the annoying hum from my amplifier at times. I initially connected the IsoTek with a Furutech FI-32 ICE connector; today, I replaced this connector with a Furutech FI-52 NCF C19. Even at this point, so far forward in the system, you can still hear the different sonic influences. The FI-32 sounds leaner, cooler, and a bit harder in the highs. The FI-52 NCF sounds smoother and more balanced.

The Furutech FI-52 is so good, it may count for 50% of the improvements of PCs. I replaced the connectors on all my old cords and the SQ is amazing.

I am waiting for the new PS Audio preamp to be released. In the interim ,I have done a couple of tweaks. I am guite impressed with the Akiko Audio Design Loudspeaker Improver. I tried one from Jaguar Audio figuring at the most I would have to pay return postage which wouldn’t have been very much.
Needless to say, they are staying as I am very impressed with the results. If you have a fairly mature system they might be worth a try. A couple of weeks ago,I posted a more comprehensive review on Audiogon. Bottom line, I am quite impressed with the playback improvements that I got from these units that are no larger than a fat paperback.IMG_0135|375x500

FR20’s are closer together, and with proper feet, with adjustments to the rear feet slightly higher. Female vocals bloom more, though the soundstage isn’t as wide

Nice.
What I found with the FR20s is less toe in will give you a wider soundstage - just enough for precise center stage alignment and the soundstage can still be well outside of the speakers. If the Planar Ribbons are pointed directly at you they will typical define the edge of the soundstage.

I’m a big FR20 fanboy too!

I don’t know why, but I have had my new MUON Pro in its box for a couple of weeks. Now the MU2 has one and so does the BACCH-SP. And it made an obvious difference. WhooHoo!

My system is complete.
Maybe a couple of Stealth 2020s, just to answer my curiosity. I can’t think of any other thing to add. Oh well.

4 more No 31’s so we can find out how magical the C214’s work. We know someone who has another pair of No. 31’s.

Nope. Absolutely zero desire for that.
I may trade my N31s for S812s.

The Dream 2020 has about 120 hours feeding the 333. Currently listening to Jeff Beck Who Else!, marveling at the bass punch and low frequency clarity. The sparkles and jaggies are clearing up, I think the 333 really likes the 2020.

Still waiting on my second C214.

You’re joking, right?

Did you hear the 333 without the PowerZone? Did you experience the PZ break in?

Or carbon specials.

Am I joking? Absolutely not. Rel is supposed to have a room at Axpona with a 6 pack demo! I can’t wait! If you own a pair of Rel’s that might be your next rabbit hole.

No 333 without the PowerZone. Got the PZ 3 months before the 333.
Yes, the PZ breakin was painful at times with the PSA M700s.

In a big enough room I could see it. I was just thinking Al is more likely to remove his subs than get a six pack.
I’ve got a pair of S510s, I don’t think my room is big enough for a six pack.

I know Al is not a 6 pack guy. He doesn’t really need subs as I do. But the 6 pack does not add extra bass it adds height, fullness, and scale. Here is a video with your S510’s it’s interesting.

Those subs are in a small hotel room.

Okay I will get a six pack.
Wait, wife was all sorts of angry about the C214s and they serve her more than me.
Never mind.

Actually, this is something I cannot wait to get. It is on it’s way!
