Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

The Rythmiks did not have the hum. They worked, for a few hours and one stopped. I fear I damaged it. Amp plate is going back and they confirmed its not compatible. he did mention that I could try the ground. I may do that or swap out amps for the one with XLR. not running a super long RCA.

As I used two F12SEs and the BHK 250 for almost five years using an alternative ground location I can assure you it works.

DC loads in the power grid usually vary in magnitude. My amplifier’s transformers would hum for several minutes at various times of the day. Since I got the IsoTek V5 SYNCRO UNI 16, the hum has gone away. Tesla charging stations can be a cause of DC in the power grid. Inverters in photovoltaic systems can also be a cause. The IsoTek solves the DC problems and realigns the sine wave to the zero point. My problems with the hum of the mono power amplifiers have been solved for me, and as an added bonus, the sound quality has benefited again. Now it doesn’t matter whether it’s day or night, whether the neighbor is charging their electric car or an LED light is switched on. The sound of my system now seems to sound equally good at any time of day.

Looks like you have five phillip head screws on the backside of the LS-28SE that you could use along the bottom edge. I would use one wire to the outside screw on each side. If the included ground wire is not long enough just add an extension to each wire.

My setup the subs are up front of the room. P20, BHK300’s and subs are all up there. I am going to use the PS Audio provided ground lugs the previous owner (@paul172 ) got from them. Those should work.

The rack with the sources/pre etc would need a very long wire.

Donald, I am happy to report the SDFB is staying in circuit. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Unlike the rest of you lunatics (I kid! I kid! :joy:), I carefully evaluated this one thing over a considerable period of time. First, those of you who said so, yes - it does get better even after the couple of hundred hours I originally allocated for burn in. Second, and for me this was a definite (already mentioned) - use the best power cords available for both before and after the SDFB. All that being said, the music is more open, more relaxed, deeper, just as high without being harsh. A positive addition to the system. I may try a different sluggo beyond the graphene, but after liking what I’m hearing, and moving back my multi-hundred pound equipment rack :anxious_face_with_sweat:, I’m not sure I want to move it again!

Thank Donald!

Good to hear Donald. I too found it important to use the best power cords possible before and after. I have tried four different Sluggos than the Graphene and though it takes quite a while to reveal all its glory the Graphene is the very best by more than a bit for my system (and in use with all four of my SDFB). If it were me I would avoid the heavy lifting etc. and leave it in.

Tony, your observations mirror mine (I have an SDFB serving my P10 Regenerator in my digital-centric system), but I would add that the “highs” seemed to become more discernible and up front (not in sound stage, but in clarity) - almost like they were louder but without any accompanying fatigue or imbalance with the rest of the frequency range.

It was this increased clarity and “availability” of percussion and other instruments in the upper frequencies without negatively impacting mid-range and lower frequencies that did it for me.

Glad you found the device to be a keeper…

Cheers.
