Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

Well, MU2 price has risen to over $20k now (at most dealers in US), so it is closer to MPD-8 than before.

I am playing the same Louisa Amend Quartet DSD256 file from MU2 SSD through Gryphon D333, and the sound is lovely too! Very very nice!

I can’t pass judgement in how that DAC sounds until I see a picture of the ONLY THING THAT MATTERS: The bottom plate.

Yes. The bottom plate!

You silly

The bottom plate is quite ugly with a lot of ventilating slots and screws, but at lease it is painted. Unit does get quite warm to the touch if played all day long. Bottom plate looks kind of industrial to me.

A black underplate. Forget it.

Never looked, assumed it didn’t have one.

Lacking Stack Auva EQ feet.

You guys are hard to please!

Thankfully you aren’t.

I never thought about the bottom plate until you guys mention it. I guess it does sound quite a bit better if I knew how pretty the bottom plate is.

Place a Talisman beneath and all will be well.

Haha!1

Everbody’s worry about the bottom of the unit that you can’t see, what about the back of the unit which you can see. How’s that fit into the equation of how we all conceive how the unit will sound like.

This is the view I care about:

But what if the back of the unit is out of focus in photos? Does that affect the sound?

Yes it does, Paul. The sound wll be a little blurr just like the picture. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

And Al, if the sound is anywhere how that picture looks, it is surely in end game territory! :star_struck:

That’s an old pic. I see a P20 in the background.

Hopefully it is. Like your excellent new DAC!

Sharp eye Paul. Pre-PowerZone era.

@waymanchen11 I’m loving the burly SR Galileo power cord!!!
