I think he offers a wiring harness for REL owners (or he provides a link to a recommended one). There’s not much space on the back panel. I run SVS Subs and their high level input is straightforward. Parallel off of the Amp Binding Posts into the high level SVS Binding Posts and you are all set !
At the Final Audio Distributors home. David (Orchard Audio 25’s) vs Goliath (Final Audio M35). Those little Amps drove them like a Champion ! We later reconnected the Coda 8 Amp. Yes, sonically the Coda has a bit more heft but the midrange and treble regions were so similar, it wasn’t funny.

The SVS subs like the 25s are Class D so your connection method works. The Rythmik subs I have and others still use Class AB amps so like when I had the BHK 250 you need an alternative grounding point on the amp side for the negative speaker cable. That’s the reason PSA added it due to all the REL owners. Would have been a simple and cheap add after the first run of amps sold out but he chose not to make the change.
Moving on a bit from multi $$$$$, here in the UK, the next upgrade will be the reasonably priced Gold Dac
My friend in California runs his Orchard Audio Stereo Ultra’s into a pair of Rythmik’s. I’ll confirm with him. But I’m pretty sure he does the “McGowan Method” by just running parallel off the Speaker or Amp binding post into the Rhymik’s High Level inputs. No grounding involved. Also my SVS are Class A/B. All the new stuff at SVS is Class D though.
Joe, the Orchards then must not be designed as a floating output amp. Otherwise it would go “Poof!” set up that way with the Rythmiks.
No, Leo says on his website that both terminals are hot and Brian at Rythmik warns against it with any Class D or differential balanced amp on his. For now I’m just running my two pair line level from the Rhumba Extreme. I can get around it by making speaker cables with the negative cable longer to reach the grounding lug on the Puritans.
Now that @dawkinsj mentioned. He’s correct, I forgot. That the 25’s terminals are both “hot” (hence the +52VDC required to power the module - still a fully differential design WRT to the audio paths).
The Ultra’s are +/- 40VDC and thus safe to parallel the Rythmiks with. I stand corrected, thx @tony22 (sorry Guys). I know Leo and yeah, he can be brutally honest at times when dealing with paid customers.
He’s a brilliant Engineer but yeah, he should soften the responses and offer a warranty approved workaround when dealing with people.
On the customers side, maybe he should have an option on the website on the Starkrimson 25 ordering page for some sort of grounding since there’s no room for a GND binding post on the back (maybe on the side of the Amp.
Maybe remove one of the big screws on the side of the Amp and simply screw on a ring terminal crimped or soldered to a piece of wire going back to the Sub. The ring terminal could be screwed down using the same big Philips head screw without damaging the casing or (I’m assuming here), voiding the Warranty - check with him 1st.
Sorry Guys…hopefully I haven’t put any gas on the fire.
Joe, that will not fix the problem, for a bunch of reasons. Amp outputs would still be floating. Likely to introduce an unanticipated ground loop. A half bridge short gets created. All kinds of nasty stuff.
Good call. This means the Ultra can Parallel with any high level input Sub (but REL needs a special wire harness for this to work) and the Starkrimson 25’s will only work with SVS and other Subs that are wired the same way.
Another disclaimer just like the one he added recently about Electrostatics and warned that any violent impedance swigs (a la Quad ESL 57 and their ilk) can only be used if the Ultra Amps.
So basically @dawkinsj would need to upgrade to the Ultra Mono Blocks in order to Parallel with the Rhymiks…..oops ! ![]()
@dawkinsj & @tony22 Leo chimed in. Call Rhythmik and find out if their Amp in your model Subwoofer is compatible with the specs Orchard Audio has on their website regarding the Strarrimson website. Only Rhythmik can you tell if the 25 will or will not work in Parallel with their Sub.
This isn’t so much as “passing the Buck” as it is making sure that the Sub won’t cause any damage to the Amp. My SVS’s are a single ended Plate Amp design thus it works on both the Ultra & 25 designs.
If you think Leo could maybe sometimes be a bit difficult to interact with, good luck! Brian Ding of Rythmik is not exactly a walk in the park. ![]()

I needed a good laugh today. Thx, man !

My big upgrade was adding 12V trigger cables from Preamp to amps. Only took five years to get a round tuit.
Well done!
The Synergistic PowerCell 12 SX arrived today and has been playing for about four hours now. I am very impressed and pleased with its impact on my system over the PC8 SX I had been using previously, which I thought was terrific, and it is.
I’m a very happy boy!
My latest upgrade has been new intraocular lens. Man, can I see now!!
4 of these…
Will go under… (when it finally arrives.)
Wall power provided by…
And will try this to boot… (Stack SmoothLAN near the router, Muon Pro near the Grimm MU2.)
Nice! I have everything in your pictures (Dream20-20 I assume), and I used to have Stack SmoothLan too. SmoothLan does limited to 100 MS, but it may help anyway. Interesting to hear your experience.
I’m not worried about that, in terms of streaming. I might not keep it if it doesn’t add anything. I was at the Stack site getting the footers, and thought, “What the heck. I’ll try it.”
Maybe it’ll seem nice.
