Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

I always get a chuckle when I see something like this directed toward Donald. :joy:

I usually bring clubs, but this time in-laws are joining us, the rental car will not fit the luggage. I may play a round with rental clubs.:man_golfing:

I will order PMG512 after we come back from Maui. Wait, my wife is planning a Canada trip in April. Never mind, she can predict my addiction timing very well now.:slightly_frowning_face::laughing:

My dilemma is if the new PMG S200 amp comes out before all issues are resolved with 512 I may opt for amp first. We will see

I used to think sources are more important, now I know I am wrong. They are all important! Hmm, I don’t think I am helping you.

Source components matter, preamps matter, power amps matter, integrated amps matter, speakers matter, interconnect matters, speaker cables matter, power cables matter, power products matter, subwoofers matter (even if only 1), speaker setup matters, room matters, music matters. I hope this narrows things down.

Don’t forget about fuses, but they only work if the price is min. of $300 each.

Even if you need at least 1-5 more.

I also miss Powerzones and Bacch!

Well, I brought my BSR “Spatial Enhancer” out of hibernation. It was cool for about 1 minute, then the waterlogged ears sound was too unbearable, so it is going back into hibernation.

It’s probably working on the same principle as used with that old Phase Linear preamp of yore.

But, you need to break it in and add a high end power cord! You also need to let your ears adjust. You’ll be singing its praises after 500 hours, and the thing really opens up at 1000 hours I’m told.

This beauty has arrived a few hours ago:

It turns out that I don’t need to wait for PMG SACD to fully break in, because I plan to use FRR between MU2 and D333. If this one is sounding as good as everyone says, then it means I still need a pair for playing discs in future.

I will put it in later. Even though it is used, I will give it a day to settle.

By the way, PMG SACD T has had non-stop playing time (rotate between USB and discs) around 80 hours. It continues to sound better, but the improvement incremental becomes smaller. It really sounds special.

Any early impressions?

Do you own one? You will like my comment:

How did they do it? How can a cable make a system sound so much better? I am talking about Audience Front Row Reserve XLR cable of course. I have tried at least a dozen pairs of interconnects in the past, and my impression has always been that power cords made more impact on my system than interconnects. That is until now.

My previous Silversmith Fidelium XLR is a great IC too, but it is not even close to the level of FRR. Of course, one would say FRR is five times more expensive than Fidelium, but Fidelium sounded better than my previous IC that cost more than double of it, and that pair was better than another $2k plus cable before.

FRR has opened my eyes to how great an interconnect can help a system. I have never heard my streaming SQ in such realism. The image precision and resolution are second to none. All these great details come with a natural and sweet midrange too. Many cables with a ton of details could sound too analytical. FRR sounds musical with more details. This is a winner. It is the most neutral sounding cable I have heard that can pair with different gears and cables easily, I believe.

My system is all FRR. The last cables to enter my system were the speaker cables.
The power cables and interconnects were unmistakable improvements. The speaker cables were on yet another level.

Why did you have to say this? LOL

Now I need speaker cables in addition to power cables, LOL

I would start with the speaker cables.
The unexpected and significant improvement from the whole FRR line is the sense of speed.
I have no idea how that could happen–but it’s what I heard.

@minnesotafats has a pair of Stealth V17LE’s for sale if you want to do the FRR vs Stealth Pepsi challenge.

Yes, I believe all FRR will help greatly.

I like SRA Takshaka line of cables too. They do not sound like FRR, but their SC has a different kind of magic. I am happy with the sound from their combination.

Also, one cannot go wrong with Stealth Dream 2020 and CGLE either, so I am done with power cords too.
