Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

Soon we’ll be discussing green vs yellow. The green are much more airy.

Hmm, no. I find the greens to be too analytical. The yellows have a nice natural quality to them.

Understandable. That’s probably because of the starch to sugar conversion. A nice mix might be ideal; green for tubes, yellow for Class D.

You live in Florida you should start manufacturing your own crop of audiophile bananas.

I’ll work on the audiophile mud with natural grounding capabilities.

I very much enjoy the concept of the Dynagrid. Neat unit.

I have found rectification tubes to matter with my Woo Audio WA5 power supply.

Oh I imagine they would. They really matter in all the tube components I have with rectification. And I was very skeptical at first whether this unit would equal or surpass the sound the best rectifiers present in my amplifier. But I should not have worried, this component really does produce improvements.

Excellent. A fun addition.

Plantains probably work best-so much denser.

Maybe, but then you’d never hear something like “That’s some high end banana you’ve got there!”

Okay, I’ll stop now.

I put a Aliexpress Nordost power cord with the real $400 Japanese plugs to power the LHY SW-10 Pro switch a week ago, and I had an AQ Dragon HC there before. Do I heard a SQ downgrade? Not really. I am not sure I heard any meaningful difference. Maybe I will try a rotten banana next.

But I have no banana to try, so I will put the AQ Dragon HC back later since no one is interested in buying it (after many trash AQ PC in this forum, myself included). Hopefully I will hear a tidy improvement later.

100% agree! I replaced the rectifiers on my WA5-LE, with KR Audio 5U4G. Stupid expensive, but they sound phenomenal.

What drove you to doing this? Late night with a bottle of Valpolicella?

Audioholic insanity and bad judgement go hand-in-hand in me often. I had a dream to sell AQ Dragon at a ridiculous price so I can buy a more ridiculous priced cable to tryout.

I put back AQ Dragon HC an hour ago. What a difference it made! The bass is deeper and tighter, the background is dead quieter, and everything is sounding better than before. Who said this cable is not worth it? I will keep it and at one time I told myself I would never sell AQ Dragon HC. This experiment reconfirm my wisdom.

While I will not recommend AQ Dragon over Stealth Dream 20-20, as 20-20 is a much better power cable, I still am not suffering with a 20amp Dragon going to the PowerZone.

Agreed, both Stealth 20-20 and CGLE are better than AQ Dragon, and I am okay with that. I guess two-out-of-three ain’t bad.

Oh, I am going to play Meat Loaf “Bat Out of Hell” SACD now. The last time I played it was before my FR30 days. How does it sound on my “new” system?

My regular line stage is taking an extended trip to Japan for the latest upgrade and spa treatment, up to 8 weeks, a one man shop, with a backlog of upgrades to work through

Anywho, I picked up an Allnic L-7000SE to handle things in its absence. I’ve had (lesser) Allnic preamps before, both line and phono, so not going in blind

I could’ve used the preamp section of my E-800, it sounds really nice, but for me 8 weeks without tubes in the linestage, is too long

Hooked it up earlier, sounds great, very dynamic, holographic, built like a tank, quiet as the proverbial church mouse

Best,
JP

I just got word that my BACCH-SP adio is ready to ship after a six week wait, so I’ve got that going for me. At the same time, my system with the MU2 has never sounded better. I kind of wish I could keep it around, but pretty much everyone says that the DAC in the adio is top notch (rumor has it that it the unit is made by MSB Technology in California for Theoretica). We shall see!!!

Congrats!

The DAC inside the adio is all Edgar’s design. The case itself is made by MSB. That’s it.

I kept my MU2 and use it just as a Roon streamer. It is hooked up to the adio in such a way as I can play through the adio and use the DAC in the MU2. Stealth’s best cables on every path. For quite a while I listened with the MU2 DAC. A couple of clicks and I can switch from either DAC. I favor the adio DAC but it is so very, very close. You may favor one over the other. Don’t sell the MU2 short. It’s nice having both!

Hopefully you ordered the Pro Microphones with your adio! You save money when you order them with the adio.

Either way, you are in for a treat!

@aangen
Al, as I recall you also have a BACCH4Mac for your office? Have you tried the Pro microphones on it? How much of a difference do they make?
Thanks!
