Yes sir! Both my Bacch4Mac and my BACCH-SP are configured for the Pro Microphones. Apparently, we have the power to swap Mics ourselves. But I make Edgar do it.
I only used the Pro mics on the B4M. No before and after. But not so on the adio.
When I first got the Pro mics I wasn’t in possession of a B4M. I left my first one somewhere, can’t remember where. So I did the MacBook thing. Anyway, the first filters I made with the Pro’s were not subtle changes. The sound was upwardly mobile. I like it a lot. These days though, when I am listening to something and I want to shine a different light on the music, I have four other filters I made with the old mics. It amuses me how much I enjoy having history at a screen press. The old filters change up the sound in different ways that are obvious. It’s fun to have them.
The old mics are 88% of the Pro’s sound. It’s an option, like a pair of good interconnects is an option. No regrets here. I may put the old mics in on the B4M just for giggles as I know how to do that myself.
If $1500 drops out of the sky, see it as the sign that it is.
Oooops, I just tried the other filters and prefer the Pro. On this album anyway.
Audio-Technica bubble level. It replaces my cheap plastic and apparently poorly calibrated level.
Yes, the turntable is re-leveled and it sounds better. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
First I though this little guy can measure audioholic craziness level. When the bubble bursts, it indicates addiction level became extreme again. Wouldn’t that be nice? I will pay crazy money for one.
Hopefully I’m not causing a headache. I really don’t know but what if your platter is not perfectly parallel to the top of your turn table? They are separate surfaces after all. You may have made your turn table body level but not the surface that is spinning based off the photo. I’ve never used one of those before and am just wondering.
After giving it some thought, I’ve decided the logical first step in my upgrade path is to swap the BHK preamp for a Pass XP-22. Since I’m already running Pass X260.8 monoblocks, pairing them with the XP-22 just makes sense — both sonically and as a cohesive system. The BHK was always going to need replacing at some point, so this feels like the right move rather than upgrading cables. Cables will follow once the preamp is sorted.
I’ve made a similar shift, from BHK preamp to Pass XP-32, in the context of Pass XA160.8 mono blocks. Marked increase in SQ, across domains, to my ears.
Has anyone heard of any news on the new remote with the knob or headphone amp. Not a huge headphone guy but did use the built in amp that was in BHK Pre now and then. My Audeze lcd-x’s are collecting dust.
I finally did it. After holding on to them for almost two years I installed the APS trannies in my MkII. I used Mundorf Supreme solder. Figured if I was going to do it, I’d take it to the limit. That stuff is a beyotch to work with, but I first brushed up on my old engineering skills with a random PCB I had with parts on it. It went well. Metered out all the joints and they all checked in good. The joints also looked good visually - although RoHS connections don’t look anything like leaded connections! Well, time to put another 500 hours on it to see how it sounds…
Good for you Tony and I hope the effort rewards you will!
I gather you already have a hunch in what direction the MK2 will take you, after first power up.
Yes, Job. Nothing but music. I also checked for any DC offset. Absolutely nothing. 0mV out of both channels as read from my Fluke 87V. No real surprise, but it was good to see.
