Your Next Upgrade? (Part 2)

@luca.pelliccioli I gave up a long time ago, until my next surprise purchase, which I have no what that could be just yet

Thank you! For most of the cables you will get a fair idea how do they perform in the system. Zenwave is different, and even for demo Dave wants you to put it in the system for one month!

How are you doing with your new toys? Have you made a direct comparison between Muon Pro and PhoenixNET yet?

I figure the Stealth Dream20 is warming up too. I hope that you’re not confused by so many toys in the system at the same time.

Ouch, that hurts

If they are silver the resistance goes lower. But it remains a fact. Whiskey ages better than copper.

It makes sense, having already tested a demo, you are right.

By the end of next week, I hope to complete my testing and organize my (winding) notes to share with you my thoughts on the two filters, how they work alone and in conjunction with each other and/or removing the PhoenixNET. I have had the opportunity over the last 3 weeks to get a clear idea of them.
However, my in-depth investigation into the network adventure is still ongoing. The Stealth Ethernet ULTRA cable should be here early in December.

As for the Dream 20… let me say that I simply adore it, from the very first hours. I couldn’t resist and immediately put it in the chain, powering the amplifier, where it is clear that it will remain forever, so I had to postpone the review of the filters to avoid any confusion.

How wonderful is this hobby!

My amplifier requires two of them. They look badass coming out the back of the amp.

Tenacity seems be the trait that is required for any serious power component evaluation . I’ve installed
some Purple fuses in my BHK300’s. Each amp takes two main fuses. All the other gear has AM M1, which replaced Purples. I thought I could get by with a more reasonable expenditure in a potentially less critical spot. Well, they make a big difference, and they should given they replace stock fuses. But the big BUT, is, I like what they’re doing overall but there is a dullness afoot. I’m going to switch direction on them to see if the attack comes back, which is a characteristic that I remember of this fuse. With all the permutations of four fuses, this will be a challenge. Fuses shake my philosophy that clarity and conviction is a matter of spending more money.

Purple fuse confuses me more than any other fuse. I used to have three in DS, BHK pre, and PST. I liked the sound better then, But I made a mistake by putting a stock fuse back because I wanted to try Purple in the streamer. The mistake was that I realized I like stock better somehow (same feeling as you have). Now I have M-1s and Master fuses in all PSA products. The only Purple I have now is sitting in the network switch that does not do much harm (LHY SW-10 uses a real cheap fuse so it is safe to say Purple is clearly better).

Master fuse confuses me too. One does wonder and two kill the vibe if place it in the wrong place in my system. They will change the SQ more than any other fuse, and some may not like it (vmax still does not get over what the evil master did to his system). I have one in P15 and loves its performance, the other one is in Lumin U2 and my streaming chain is sounding better than SACDs as a result (well, not from Master alone but a combination of other stupid spendings).

My vote is on M-1, it enhances gear performance and I have not found a stock fuse that could beat it yet.

Duly noted. I just hate moving targets and second guessing. Wish there was a consistent midrange fuse option.

Not all that difficult, if you trust Discogs sellers. My experience with Japanese sellers has been exceptionally good. Apparently one is available shipped at a reasonable price.

I have this CD from East Wind purchased way back. It is in the treasure box because I listen to the ripped file from it only now. :slightly_smiling_face:

I presume it is a rare collection, but may be not.

Thank you Rick. I just placed an order (Japan).
My experience with Discogs has been spotty lately.

Regarding Discogs, US market, quality is all over the place. Find a reliable reseller and all is good. EU and Japanese markets are most reliable IME. Downside for the latter is shipping costs. I prefer thumbing through used record bins for vinyl gems, but my tastes being rather esoteric means I need to consider online options as well.

Just ordered a copy of The Elephant Table Album from an EU seller, good price too, birthday present to myself

I’ll let you know how it goes, first purchase on discogs I think, it is coming from Greece.

I can’t imagine buying records by post In the 80s, not and expect it to arrive in one piece anyway

Did you get one with the OBI?

I had to go back to check: Yes :grinning:

Smart, nice to have both the OBI and the insert IME. That said, I don’t read Japanese.
