The 101’s long term will be in Minneapolis and then maybe for sale as a system with a MBL reference 6010D Preamp and 2x MBL 9011 Amps. I have a friend that is interested in what is soon to be my 2nd system. I have found MBL electronics used are at 1/2 to 1/3 retail. that is one of the reason I could afford to buy the house for the Extremes
Very exciting.
What a great opportunity to rebuild a system.
Have fun.
You are doing well to be able to locate MBL at such a discount. There was a system in Milwaukee listed at 50% off retail recently MBL Radialstrahler 126, Corona C51 integrated, Corona C31 cd player. Had it been two years ago when I seriously considered buying the 126 I’d have jumped on that deal. Now I’m content with where I am at. You will be having a lot of fun with the Extreme set-up. Possibly explains Al holding of on the Extremes when a listen is nearby. Should he go for the Estelon Extremes the two of you will be SET!
…until the .2 version comes out.
I also have a set of MBL 120’s with Noble N31 Dac, N11 Preamp, and N15 Monoblocks. The 120’s are a gateway drug to MBL at a relatively reasonable price. Long term I will probably sell that set up also.
That too is a rather sweet set-up. Ping me when you may put them up for sale.
Matt, if you need a place to store the 101’s before you sell them, I’m more than willing to help you out.
But on the serious side, I hope you have some extreme fun with your new speakers.
Now I understand your question.
How much do the amps weigh?
oooooooo, the fun
I love the design of all the MBLs. They follow no one and that’s very appealing.
Oh baby! I do love Gold on black components.
Which pallet are the cables in?
Seriously though, what cables will you be using with this most Extreme set-up?
Gold on black is the new silver.
Gold on black improves sound quality.
I thought white was the new silver
After 100 h the timbres are better layered. Details are clearer, the bass is more controlled, everything seems more natural. The device connections have the same effect as good power plugs on a power cable.
Also thanks to my RCA tourmaline plugs, which conjure up a huge leap in naturalness and peace compared to your investment costs. An absolute recommendation and everyone who has the opportunity should make such plugs. The Epluggs termination plugs used so far cannot keep up with the self-made tourmaline plugs in terms of their natural appearance.
Curious, I opened an Epluggs plug. A small ceramic capacitor is used for interference suppression and RF shielding, which short-circuits the open RCA input. The rubbery mass is said to be enriched with minerals. In my connectors I have a silver wire as an anode on the positive pole. Together with the connector housing, it works like a capacitor. The plug is filled with tourmaline powder as a dielectric. This mineral stone powder has a piezoelectric effect similar to Furutech’s NCF to convert RF and parasitic currents into heat.
I rounded off the plug by using a rose quartz crystal and beeswax to seal the opening of the plug.
I’m putting my hifi system back together.
I recently purchased a DirectStream MkI. I had one a few years ago and sold it…and now bought another
This one has the VCOM mods, external PS, and a few more of those JKRichards touted modifications.
Right now I hook up my Macbook directly via USB but looking for a Roon solution. I can remove the external PS mod and plug in the Bridge II, or find something like the Neo Stream which I’m leaning towards.
I think in either case I still need a ‘Roon Core’ like a Mac or PC which will be doing the streaming to the Bridge or the Neo Stream, even if I’m just streaming Qobuz, correct? Not a big deal either way, but that is the next upgrade.
If you are just going to use the Neo Stream for Qobuz there is no need for a Roon Core or even Roon at all. Look at JPlay for IOS as it will meet all your needs and doesn’t require anything else. Other alternatives in a similar price range would be to find a Holo Red or an Eversolo DMP-A6 as a streamer only just like the Neo. The Red also lets you use I2S like the Neo Stream while the Eversolo does not.
Beautiful, thanks for the reply!
They will be super high frequency additions:)
