I have given my SGCD a new lease of life, after it developed a fault and had the main board replaced by the UK PS importer. I bought a new Innuos Zen as well, which has curtailed my main hi fi spend for 2025. I have been looking at less (in the grand scheme of things) expensive hi fi products, and one that seems to have been mentioned a few times is a pair of " Townshend Seismic Isolation Podiums". Any forum people using them?
I have a friend who has them under his big Tektons. He said he’d tried other isolation solutions (including Isoacoustics) and likes these the most. Sounded nice to me.
I’m currently selling a pair on UK eBay, size 4.
My floorstanders were 130kg each so maybe too big for what you need?
I’m not sure whether they can be ‘tuned’ for a smaller weight?
Why so much toe in?
The drivers have a rising response in the treble.
Seems pretty extreme, but I am assuming your ears and your room dictate the set up.
Do yo have a pretty good soundstage in terms of width?
Cheers.
The image is full size and goes beyond the wall boundary’s. Plenty of height and depth too. Really pretty good for a homemade pair of speakers.
I am happily using a version of the Podiums under my DIY speakers - they are adjustable (length) bars with Pods on each end.
I’m also using their Iso Pods under all my other gear (TT, DAC, transport, Regenerator, amp & phono stage). I’ve used various other isolators over the years and am totally impressed with these Townshend isolation products. They have provided amazing improvements in soundstage focus, musical details and rock solid bass.
