Airlens Drops Off QOBUZ Connect Back to iPhone

After selecting the Airlens for playback on the QOBUZ (Connect ) app, everything works fine until let’s say, an album choice is completed playing, the Airlens will drop off as the play source and revert back to my iPhone. I also tried this with my gals IPad, only with WI-FI (no cellular), and the same thing happens. Her iPad is linked to her iPhone. I can play a 4 hour playlist, but the same thing happens after the playlist is completed. In all cases the QOBUZ Autoplay function is effectively disabled. Thoughts?

I have to shut my Airlens off for a minute or so, every few days or Qobuz Connect reverts back to iphone. This started about a month ago…no issues with Tidal Connect..

Hmm, having the same thing happening with my iPad. Playlists playing on the Airlens for a while and the next thing you know, the Airlens drops connection and reverts to iPAD…. You are not alone…this started a few weeks ago……I’ve had the Airlens since June of this year. I stream in CD quality, not Hi Res………. now, is there a reason ?

Yes! When I bought the Lens used off of my buddy a couple months ago this did not happen. So I wonder if one had an iPad with no cellular plan, unique Apple ID (not tied to an iPhone), what would happen? This also happens to my buddies PMG preamp, which has the Lens in it. He thinks it may be a buffering issue with high res files. He has NO issues with Spotify. Anyway, I have a call into PS, talked to Chris, he’s going to look into it!

Today, I had the Airlens drop back to iPAD playing , multiple times, nothing has changed w my Router, I also stream iHeart for podcasts and have for years, no drop off there using the same router.

I posted previously, anyone else have any clues…?

As in my previous post, I’ve had the Airlens since June….this is a recent issue…

I have talked to others I know who own WIIM Ultra’s, and they have NO issues whatsoever, with ANY streaming apps. A friend joked, “well they sell so many WIIM’s (hey @ $329), they probably have more experience with programming out handshake issues than PS Audio”. I am starting to believe him LOL. Also a friend just purchased the $PMG$ gizmo which also has the Lens in it, and has the same issue. He thinks it may be a buffering issue with Hi-Rez files, hmmmm. PS has to figure this out, or I’m going to bail on the Lens and buy a WIIM. Hey, they are streaming boxes, nothing more.

No airlens but I use a Lumin streamer. Whenever I start a session I always have to select the Lumin as the device. It does not drop the Lumin after an album or playlist is completed as you describe though. So it must revert back to the default device after playback is stopped for an allotted time. In my case, the app has designated my iPad as the default device. I believe this is a Qobuz issue, not the Airlens (if you consider it an issue).

I asked ChatGPT which it confirmed. See below:

“This is a known (and frustrating) behavior of Qobuz Connect, and it’s mostly due to how Qobuz has implemented “Connect” compared to Spotify or TIDAL.
Here’s what’s actually happening and why it snaps back to your iPad :backhand_index_pointing_down:
Short answer
Qobuz Connect does not maintain a persistent remote-control session.
When playback stops, the app refreshes, or the device state changes, Qobuz often reverts control back to the device that initiated playback (your iPad).”

Thanks, this is excellent info for a neophyte like me. Another experiment I tried was using my gals iPad, which has no cellular plan, at home Wi-Fi only. The same thing happens, ie drops back to her iPhone. So I wonder what would happen if let’s say, I had an iPad with its own unique Apple ID (therefore not tied to any iPhone), how would QOBUZ react then? The nuisance is this situation pretty much renders the QOBUZ Autoplay function useless. Thanks for your help.

Qobuz is favored by many on these forums, I use the Airlens, as mentioned previously, this was not an issue for months till recently.

So, if we know the What, (its likely Qobuz Connect), has anyone come up w a fix that has truly addressed the issue and connection of the Connect software stays with the Streamer (Airlens in my situation). ???

I have an android phone but utilize my iPad as the controller. It appears the device the app is loaded on becomes the “default device” on Qobuz connect. The only time I use my phone for Qobuz connect is in my vehicle. It connects automatically with android auto so not the same situation to compare.

Today we had a “Ask Paul” regarding the Airlens losing connectivity randomly due to Qobuz Connect… the basic content of the video was…yes there is a problem… try Maestro, when I went to the forum it appears…Maestro has issues too.

When I purchase the Airlens the word was… Qobuz is working on releasing Qobuz Connect, we waited and waited and then got Qobuz…it worked fine for quite a long time…then, randomly started disconnecting and the music got directed to my iPad… this problem persists…

We were given the hope that Connect would be great for the Airlens…

Would someone w clout contact Qobuz to help them come up w a “fix” to address this bug…

Paul’s solution is switch to Maestro… which also has issues…

I called, spoke w a technical person who directed me to email Paul… I asked Chris to please bring this issue to management at PS Audio to intervene on a longstanding problem using Airlens and Connect…

This thread was started in Jan 2026…

thanks for any solution that can be reached

Much appreciated
