When we were kids camping out we always made hobo pies in the campfire coals.
As a boy scout back in the day, we used to wrap sliced potatoes, carrots, onions and sliced beef with a healthy splash of ketchup, in tin foil, and bake that on the coals. Your post brings back memories I had long forgotten!
