Any readers here? Whatcha reading right now?

 Good one!

Book 'im !

I want to apologize up front for shamelessly promoting my recently published YA novel, “Dancing with No Shoes.” It’s available now on Amazon in paperback, hardcover, or eBook versions. It’s a fun, easy read for teens and adults.

The book is a coming-of-age story that blends together elements of romance, mystery, and a search for independence by a teen with significant disabilities. I’ve told people that the novel is sort of like “Stephen Hawking Meets The Breakfast Club.”

Although I’m getting good feedback from readers, especially about the characters and the dialogue, I haven’t done much marketing yet and could definitely use more readers/reviewers. Here are a few selected highlights from an independent editorial review: “A superlative cast … a full-bodied hero teeming with complexities … instantly likable … dialogue is lively and chock-full of delightfully censored insults.” — Kirkus Reviews

If the book appeals to you, please give it a look and let me know if you enjoy it.

Thanks!
Scott

Congrats. Maybe put a link to where we can buy it.

Paul, thanks for the support! I was reluctant to post a link to the Amazon page for “Dancing with No Shoes” unless the forum folks thought it was okay.

I hope this link works: Amazon.com: Dancing with No Shoes: A Novel: 9798990586710: Lindgren, Scott: Books

I’m on the first book. I’m most of the way through it and it’s better than I was expecting. I’m curious how closely the series follows the books. I’m finding the overall history of the time period pretty interesting, even though the author says she could only be so accurate for the purposes of the story. The shortest book is 800 pages, the longest almost 1,400 pages. There are two more books in the series, so I expect I’ve got in excess of 10,000 pages to read.

I admire your commitment. The series is quite long both in terms of the number of books (10 as you said) and in page count. I enjoyed reading them and like you was not familiar with the happenings in Scotland during the 18th Century.

I’ve seen the first six seasons first on Starz through season 3 or 4 and then 5 and 6 on Netflix. Season 7 hasn’t hit Netflix yet and the final season 8 will be on Starz next year. Or at least that is the plan.

The televised series has been remarkably faithful to the novels IMO although abbreviated just as Game of Thrones was on HBO. You just can’t pack all the information from the novels into a limited number of episodes.

Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks, Scott and no problem. Happy to help. I read the opening sample on Amazon. Well written and well done. What a fascinating study. Thank you for writing this.

@Paul, thanks so much for the kind words and taking time to read the sample pages of my book on Amazon. While writing this novel, I became addicted to the joy of creating something new and exciting out of thin air. I’m sure you’ve had a similar feeling as you’ve created your Eemians series.

I’ve also become so attached to my main characters that I’ve started writing a sequel, which takes place during the first year in college for the story’s hero, David Hardy. I’m hoping to finish that book sometime next year.

Best of luck as you embark on your new series of books on audio topics. Your writing is always instructive and entertaining.

An interesting and quite amusing narrative about road trips the author took along the routes of the various “Great Walls” the Chinese constructed. The book was published fifteen years ago as the period of road building and automotive culture was gathering momentum.

Got this from my neighbor who received it as a gift from another friend.
Looking forward to getting into iit.

Revisiting a guilty pleasure from my young adulthood.

I’ll give this a read. I just finished Harkway’s “Titanium Noir”. An interesting ‘sci-fi-ish’ detective novel reading like a Mickey Spillane novel.
