I love the books of Michael Grumley, especially the Monument and the Breakthrough series .
Just started this. We’ll see how it goes. It was a free “first read” selection from Kindle/Amazon Prime. I don’t often have good luck with those.
One of the New York Times “best books of 2024.”
Also just finished another one on their “best of 2024” list. The author took some interesting detours in life to find her calling as a death doula.

The TV series was jarring so I decided to read the book as well.
I’ve been known to reread favorites, and right now I’m doing that with Haruf’s Plainsong.
Both were top notch in my opinion. The novel, as almost always, gives more depth to the story.
Inspired to read this by a recent piece by Peggy Noonan. One of the best biographies I have read.
Halfway through. Fascinating.
