Today I updated to the latest Maestro and it usually requires a remove and re-install of the app. With the new Window app everything works better. The music has not had drop-offs yet.
However, searching by genres is still not working. For example, I tried to search all DSD albums in my local files, and it has been five minutes but it is stuck in a organizing loop again.
Go to System Settings > Battery (or Energy Saver on older versions) > Options and toggle on “Prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when the display is off”, and
System Settings > Lock Screen and set “Turn display off on power adapter when inactive” to Never
I think that with these settings, as long as you have the MacBook plugged in to the power adapter, you should be able to start things off and close the lid, the first setting being the more important.
Update
Nope, that didn’t work. Typically, one track would play, and then Maestro would wait for the next instruction. I’d have to flip up the lid, and it would either pick up on the next track, or I’d have to hit Play.
Best solution at this point is to queue something up, then lower the display brightness while keeping the laptop open. Then, and only then, would things play fairly well.
I think I figured out a fix. Look for a new version that automatically allows your computer to go to sleep and still play music! Look for version 10.5.5
In another 45 minutes, update to v10.5.5 and test it out for me. Make sure you’re up to date with the right version and it should work on both Windows and Mac.
Here is an interesting problem that was not here yesterday. When I tried to click back to the previous page, the first click didn’t do anything, and one needed to click twice to go back to the previous page. Hopefully the next update will take care of this problem.
OK, 10.5.5 is live. Give it a try and see if your laptops can go to sleep and still play music. Obviously you can’t shut them off without power (just like you can’t do that with a Roon server either) but in sleep mode they should now work!
Yes, working on that though it’s also easy to right click on the app, inspect element, select Console, and copy and paste the code. There you can see Maestro working in real time and that’s what we use to debug too.
you could if you go in USB monitor, but last update, close all outside running, when the laptop close the screen. Working on it, to find what energy saving, i must disangage
not found yet! some sort of AI kick in, to close everything when laptop close screen!
3 days in a row, my program crash in the middle of the night, because save energy behaviour added by windows! only do that on laptop windows laptop.
Apple don’t allow any laptop to continue working when lid is close or screen of, It goes sleep mode after 5 minutes, except if a monitor is hooked!
Maestro up and running - so far no issues - library scanned OK ( 570 albums) Qobuz playlists imported OK. Only had a brief listen last night SQ is nice and clean and bass is more defined. I’m comparing with Amarra Luxe - which bested Roon and Audirvana for SQ - I did like the DSP options in Ammara so looking forward to prism.
I’m currently testing 10.5.5 for the closed-laptop issue.
Sad to say, it doesn’t seem to be working out. At least four times, the music stopped with the lid closed, and seems to keep playing with the lid up. (I’m currently testing that out, but it takes a while to be sure.)
Aside from that, if we have a feature request, do we put that in a support message via Maestro?
If it’s a new issue then a support ticket’s the best because the system lines ‘em up for me to knock of the list. If we’re testing this forum is just fine. Thanks for all the help!
As confirmed as I can get: Closing the laptop lid stops the music after about a minute. Buffering? Leaving the lid open seems to work continuously, as expected.
It’s not the biggest thing in the world, but it would save some screen life. It’s more a matter of convenience to be able to close the lid.
And as I typed this, an Ella Radio stream just stopped cold, with the laptop open.
