You got blabber free listening on a Saturday?!
Amazingly, yes!
No tubes
Thanks! Definitely the new electronics. The speakers and positioning and cables are the same as last year. You’re not the first to notice. Between the new preamp and DAC the sound improvement is so big and noticeable people are scratching their heads over what they heard and remember about last year.
So is Ted no longer involved with PS Audio?
I’m sure the improvements are thanks to in large part at how well these new components measured, especially the Preamp and the DAC compared to their predecessors. Looks like PS Audio is proudly entering the world of measurements matters camp.
Indeed. I saw a reference to SINAD in the product page for the new DAC.
Hopefully they can give Topping a run for their money
Other standouts or big fails at Axpona?
(sounds like PSA room is a standout)
Well, if Ted’s gone, I’d just like to thank him for the great pleasure his work has given me, and continues to. True genius.
Look forward to the PMG series, though. Sounds promising!
Yup. With the preamp approaching -150dB and the PMG Signature 512 DAC bettering -100dB, we’re jumping in feet first.
That is correct though Ted remains a valued HiFi Family member. We’ve been blessed to have worked with Ted, one of the brightest people I have ever met in my life. He’s amazing and a wonderful engineer. I am sure Ted will remain part of the HiFi industry. We worked together for more than a decade for which we were really fortunate.
I saw Paul and Terry this morning as they were leaving the hotel. The rest of the crew is handling the room today, but Mr. and Mrs. McGowan are off to Greece for what I’m sure is a well deserved vacation. Hopa! (get it! ) they have a great time!
Auer German acoustic company came in and built a room inside the room. Big win for sonics and performance big fail for HVAC as it felt like 105° inside the room.
Today is the last day of Axpona. Come and gone way too fast again. I’ll be going down to see a little more. See off friends and capture some more system pictures. I’ll try to post as many pictures tonight as I can.
Thanks for your kind work, sharing infos and pics with us!
Anyone visited Innuos, Network Acoustics or MSB roms?
I just got home from Axpona. What a great time: I heard nothing that makes me want a different system, thankfully. (But I can see myself buying the new PMG DAC.)
I did have a great time meeting Tony, Al, Paul, A different Paul, Matt, Joe and lots of guys on the business side. Well worth time and money. If they did it twice a year, I’d probably go.
I did, Luca. My thoughts there will have to wait until I get back. At the airport.
It was great seeing you @ronp! Such a great time.
Okay. I had some terrible food at the airport and have a bit of time before I board. Or is that barf?
First, it was great to see everyone - Ron, Paul, (a different) Paul, Rick, and Al! I finally met Al! Had a great time with Ron hitting some of the rooms, had a great time at adifferentPaul’s (did I say that already?).
@luca.pelliccioli, I’m looking through my notes and I apologize to say I don’t have too many notes about Innuous. They had two rooms of their own, but I saw them being used in quite a number of other rooms. So they had a very nice presence. I’m pretty sure I saw a Statement in use, and a number of rooms had either PhoenixNETs or PhoenixUSBs. But don’t ask me if I could tell how they were improving the sound. I’m not sure I could tell you.
