Axpona 2025

3 day pass is like the light weight amplifier. It’s enjoyable but you aren’t getting the full experience. just kidding! Free drinks, free snacks, executive bathroom, vip rooms, free WiFi, free drinks… ok maybe it’s not worth the money and the free Tshirt but I’m getting it.

We also suggested last year adding gold pass elevator!

Not saying that’s going to happen but that’s worth the $150 alone!

I may skip Axpona next year.
(as if)
I already have a four night booking for a room at the Axpona hotel.

I’m still using lace up NB’s. I haven’t transitioned yet to the “you really are an old man” velcros yet.

This has turned into the “we also love shoes thread”

Hey, shoes are probably the most important accessory to bring to a 3 day tour of AXPONA!

Also good to have earplugs at the ready.

If you forget your ear plugs one could remove the orthopedic foam sneakers and use those in a pinch.

Essential IMO, not just to address volume concerns for that matter.

Cash if you don’t want to pay the Cook County 10.25% sales tax.

I’m not to excited to see this. I like car audio but it is a different animal than home audio and imo a different demographic in that most in car audio shows are about high SPL production tons of bass. I think this is a bad idea.

Boo hiss! What next? Flat screen tvs?

Actually, there’s a whole genre of car audio that is more or less an exact parallel to high end audio. No super high SPLs, no overblown bass. It’s apparently a well hidden secret from the standard “car audio head banger” crowd. Kind of like how most people have no idea there’s even a thing called audiophilia. I have no links handy, but it’s judged in more or less the same way as high end audio. I only learned about this myself in talking to the folks running the Florida audio show, where this coming February will be from the looks of it the first of these collaborations. All this is as told to me from the organizers, so I personally have no firsthand knowledge.

Thank you for that insight and I hope you are correct. Tho IMO it’s best to be held at a car event. The Axpona show does not have the best parking situation and adding something like this will give challenges to some show goers. I can see this as an attempt to draw more youth to the event that’s predominantly an older crowd. Sorry guys we are old.

I’ll let you know after the Florida show. My expectation (fear, if you want to call it that) is that the carheads will hang around the cars not caring a whit about a great audio show going on inside the hotel, and vice versa for the audiophiles. I do hope I’m wrong but it may be a very small percentage of cross pollination. If what I hear is true, though, this subset of far audio enthusiasts are looking for the same kind of things found in high end audio. So it may be a good combination.
