Axpona 2026

They are even smaller than M1200. My wife may ask me to trade in D333 for this pair.

No, it is not happening.

I found a subwoofer for @paul172

Nice! Paul probably doesn’t need a six-pack for that, but that will sound even better I am sure.

Ah, fond memories of the opening scene from Back to the Future!

Grimm Audio, with the mad scientist himself (Eelco Grimm). He had a fantastic version of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto playing. Sounded nice!

I need to visit the Grimm room! A friend from Michigan was here just for this morning and I tried to catch up with him right after the PS Audio presentation but he only said he was on the 15th floor. Didn’t catch up to him until after I climbed 15 flights of stairs then back down 14 flights to the second floor seating area where he ended up. Turns out he was in the Grimm room and he talked to Eelco (sp?) about that system. Not sure if the MU1 is a good fit for him given he’s a bit of a Luddite. I’ve only picked up what you guys talk about regarding Grimm.

I didn’t get a chance to talk to any of the forum members after the presentation, but my impression was the bass was a bit “wooly”. A strong contributor is that room is a cube, horrible for bass. Quite honestly, of the few rooms I got a chance to get a good listen in today (it was pretty crowded) most had “wooly” bass to one degree or another. The only one that didn’t was the Perlisten room (Utopia D). They had four subwoofers, one in each “corner” of the space (which was defined by a curtain). Interesting subwoofers too, two pair of drivers in each box, working in a “force cancellation” mode. Zero vibration, you could not feel anything even though they were playing deep bass. Plus the enclosure was designed for in-wall use!?

The Grimm MU2 is a fun product.

Today at Axpona was very troubling for me. I heard the KII 3 stack and the similar Third Ear stack. Both are active speakers with massive internal amps and DACs. Both need power, and a music source. Both sounded incredible. I spent 45 minutes listening to the KII speakers and I can see getting rid of everything I have in my main system except my Turntable and CD transport. Just a Bacch4Mac setup and I would be fine. No need for most of my cables, my big amp and preamp, my PowerZone, my CAD device, and my large and very expensive rack systems. I could be four pairs of the speakers for what I could sell my gear for. And make my wife a very happy person. Good lord!

That sounded too logical so do not do it!

So happy The Masters happens on the same weekend as Axpona show almost every year, hence I will never go to the show! Thank goodness!

Six pack of 60” subwoofers would be sweet in my airplane hanger listening room!

I didn’t realize you played in the Master’s! Wow!
