Just one ACE would be a good start. :crossed_fingers:

Roger that!

I ponder what Ty would have thought of these new rules.

Pitch clocks next season !!
YEAH !!

So I don’t know if you have ever watched games from the 60s but it seems like they get down to it. Am I correct in that? Saying that - clocks and more rules? BOOOOOOOO!!!

Just enforce the strike as it’s written in the rule book.

Here’s a thought. You want more rules? Force the players to sign autographs for little kids in pre game.

And hit the strike zone. In the modern MLB the emphasis has shifted way over to pitching superiority to win it all. Great pitching makes for short innings, too. The shortest game times for games I’ve attended overwhelmingly tend to be great pitching duels with a ton of Ks.

Now, now…we can’t have that either. That would just be too boring.

I guess I am pretty bitterly defensive about THE GAME. If you don’t like the game, don’t watch it. Don’t play it.

But…don’t try to reinvent it until it is a different game. That’s my fear…that we are in danger of losing the game.

You want hockey, football or soccer, then go watch them and play them. If you want short games with lots of scoring on the diamond, play softball!

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Raise the mound … does this seem cyclical?

Hockey and football are losing their way. I mean what does it mean when a 60 year old kid can’t tell if a guy catches a ball … plants his butt in the end zone and has to wait for the ref to make the call?

Being sarcastic of course. I’ve seen Chicago Fire soccer this season. It sux. Not optimistic about the 'hawks. They’ll suck as well. The Bears, don’t get me started. Rooting for the Cubbies to deposit baseballs in the cheap seats for the bleacher bums to collect at maximum rate next year.

Some more sentiment for you (since you are a North Sider’s fan):

When I go to Wrigley Field for a BASEBALL GAME on a gorgeous Summer evening or (better yet) Fall afternoon, I expect to spend an evening or an afternoon enjoying the game (experience), not 60 or 90 minutes in and out of a stadium.

There’s a difference, you know? (And, for the record, I really enjoy NCCA college basketball and NFL football as well. I just don’t expect the pace of play and experiential feel to be like baseball when I enjoy those sports.)

Gonna take a break from standing atop of my soap box now…

I’m with ya all the way, North Sider comrade. When I’m at Wrigley I simply forget all the work crap, personal static, etc. It’s dreamy. And for the record, I get annoyed with dudes sitting behind me who come to the game to just whine incessantly about work for 3 hours. Gets under my skin.

It sure can be…

Got to take my Father to an afternoon game last year just before they broke up the band, so to speak. It was a lovely afternoon.

Cheers.

The peg legged man is long gone…one of a kind. I bet he would support much of the change coming. Veck was no purist. He gave a midget an at bat. He whole life was a circus.

Which club is the odds-on favorite to take the Series?

Well, not the Mets. Yikes, the Padres just clobbered Scherzer. Wow.

Do we have to steel ourselves for the possibility of another title for the Red Birds?
