Anecdotally, I would not include Chicago in the top 5 most expensive average cost to attend a MLB game.
I wonder what the facts are though.
If only there was some way to quickly research such matters… ![]()

O.K., I could not resist. According to one source:
“When it comes to ticket prices alone, the Boston Red Sox topped the list with an average cost of $61.71. But as many baseball fans will tell you, simply sitting in the stadium isn’t the full experience: You have to indulge in at least one trip to the concession stand. With that in mind, Time2play also factored in the average price of two beers and a hot dog—plus parking—for a more comprehensive financial picture of a trip to the ballpark.”
And the winner (loser) is…Wrigley Field and the Chicago Cubs. ![]()
Been there once. Hated the fans. Will never go back.
As always, YMMV, but please don’t try and convince me I imagined it.
That’s a shame. Never had a bad experience at either Chicago ballpark…unless you count having beer dumped on me from the upper deck at the old Comisky Park when I was a youngster.
Bad architectural design if you ask me.

It was probably a factor of it being a Cardinals game, but there were two other guys from the west coast in our section that were visiting as part of a “see all the ballparks” goal that we chatted with that were equally unimpressed.
I’ve had bad nights at other stadiums too; I admit to anti-Cub bias willingly, so don’t consider me a neutral observer.
The food at The Cell is unmatched anywhere, and I’ve been to my share of parks.
The one and only Wrigley game I attended is permanently burned into my memory data set as magical. It was a day game, I was a kid.
Eighth shutout of the year.
One in every series.
Heck of a team.

Cubs did not lose today!
‘Course they didn’t play either.

I think I’m due to visit Wrigley field as it has been too long. My wife is all in on this one.
Cubbies put a Five-Spot on the board in the first against the ‘Stros.
Good start!
3-21. 8 shoutouts. One shutout every series.
3 W’s!!
Some kind of a record?
3-22.
Sing the song!
Cubs 3, Astros 1

That the record…or did they disappoint you again this afternoon?
That’s their record. I was updating it each additional loss.
Sorry. I’ll stop. It’s pretty bleak.
Commiserate with us as much as needed.
That’s what this “support group” is all about.

Last night I watched the replay of 16 May Athletics @ Astros.
For some odd reason, I suddenly grew a severe dislike for umps announcing rulings via microphone to the ball park’s PA system.
Hopefully, it was an anomaly for me.
I guess visiting Wrigley Field is just what the Pirates needed to turn their season around.
SMH
And quietly the Stros are turning things around. Winners of 6 in a row, 8 of their last 10.
