Belden ICONOCLAST Interconnects and Speaker Cabling

Thank you vee,

We’ll keep offer the best designs and value that we can. I think cable could be an area where better design and test standards could be implemented. We hope emphasis on true design, and the effort to keep improving those measurements to be as factually correct as we can catch on.

Doing this kind of definable approach will involve criticism and change. I feel this is the right way to approach cable design despite the ability to really assess if it “works” and how. We aren’t there yet on a universal set of test and calculations for designs.

Best,
Galen Gareis

Hi, the carbon techflex doesn’t show as an option in the dropdown. Is it no longer available?

It is but the order needs to be manually entered. Im happy to do that if you would send the order from your personal email address to bhoward@iconoclastcable.com. We sure do need to update the site…Thank you!!

That’s great. Could you send me a picture of cables in carbon vs black? I’m till trying to decide which one I want

Thank you

Thank you. Is there a varying degree of benefit based on the length of the BAV power cord? e.g. if all I need is 3ft, am I better off to get 6ft and put a roll in it, or just stick with 3ft? I just hate excess cable behind my gear so I’d like to keep it to a minimum if there are no negative effects. Thank you

No issues at all with shorter lengths except future form/fit/function when we move our stuff around and they shrink!

Awesome, thank you! I’m taking some extra time to plan out my rack to make sure I only have to order once lol. I think there’s a saying about that

Every single time I have ordered a shorter “just long enough” cord I have regretted it later. “I know for certain I will never need any more than blank feet” has never been accurate. YMMV.

Good feedback, thanks. I just like to keep my hifi rack clean and avoid excess cabling.

Another very happy Iconoclast user now here too. I ordered two sets upocc xlr and OFE speaker cables. They have been playing for three days now and sound way better than anything I had before. Yeah,I know i´m stubborn and didn´t go for sptpc. I wonder if I´m missing something, maybe some but who cares. Music sounds compelling, fun and “right”.

Big thanks to @BobBJC for all the help and getting shipped these gems fast all the way to Finland so I can enjoy my Christmas music better

@Somppsa All your friends will be calling Bob now! You will enjoy Christmas very much.

I never tried the OFE speaker cable with the UPOCC XLR I know the OFE XLRs and OFE speaker cable was hiding too much information in my system. UPOCC was not available until later and I had already moved on to SPTPC speaker wire with OFE I was happy until I trialed the UPOCC which are great.

I suspect your combination is just fine if you have efficient speakers. Mine at 89dB and fabric domes needed SPTPC.

My Tekton´s are rated at 98db but that´s 4 ohm load ,so i think they are closer to 95db efficient. I was told sptpc are obviously more revealing on higher freq´s but I can´t trial them like you can. Anyway I´m happy with what I hear.

If I feel the itch I need to try sptpc later on. Though I noticed that some prefer OFE or TPC over SPTPC anyway. Maybe it is too much clarity/upper resolution and thus affecting fatigue for some ?

I imagine withe Metal domes or horns one might of had issues in the past. Some just don’t like silver plate and will categorize the Iconoclast based on other cable experience. The time correction of higher frequency response make these cables shine. If your speakers have triamp taps run the wires to HF and jumper to MF and LF for a pleasant boost in high smoothing and clarity.

@vee IIRC is having issues with his new speakers with SPTPC. He swapped during break in of new speakers.

I have been listening to all 3 variants for a few weeks now. I ended up ordering TPC speaker cables as the OCC didn’t sound any different to me and the SPTPC just never sounded “right” with all music. With some tracks and recordings they were perfect but with most they were too bright and fatiguing after a short time. This is with Spatial Audio X5’s. My other system has Tekton Electrons and the SPTPC were too bright with those too.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I guess i’m fine then with my choice of cables.

TPC’s are my favorite as well.

It wasn’t a fatigue issue on my end–more a coolness to the mid-range I wanted to change to warmer.

I’m still rotating through my cables. The Fideliums are very good and warmer, but I’m now on a set of Iconoclast TPC and they sound fantastic–warmth and bigger stage. I’m going to swap to a pair of Shunyata Python Zitrons before going back to the SPTPC shortly to confirm everything I’m hearing.
