Don’t forget the toilet paper!

I’m always amused how it seems like whenever a major weather event is approaching, all people seem to want to make is French toast.

heh, heh, heh, I’m a prepper “and,” my wife works in a grocery store. Fox in the hen house! If anyone runs short on TP let me know.:grinning: Thanks to all for hanging in there with me during our weather emergency! :rotating_light:We now return to the regular channel of discussing cables.

Heading up north for a brief arctic blast tomorrow am. A pre-sunrise jaunt so to speak.

Not before you’ve seen Arenith’s remote log cabin views from Finland.

Well I didn’t get any snow in Jacksonville to the dismay of my grandsons so back to a cable question. I have just added a pair of Rel s510 subs to my KEF Reference 3 Metas and am quite pleased with the results. So now Rel says to upgrade the cables to their baseline blue cables. They say that they alone know what is required in the cable since they built the filters for the sub. I suppose that makes sense and would be the best choice but I would like to hear if anyone has compared the Rel Baseline with the Iconoclast Rel cable. Also, I would like to know what you Iconoclast guys think about Rels claims they alone know how to build the cable. I have Iconoclast Series 2 interconnects from my DS Mk.2 to Rogue integrated amp and AQ. Robin Hood to the KEFs.

Incredible beautiful cabin/s! Lots of snow and trees. No footprints👣 to mess it up!

You dodged a bullet on the snow. I understand your grandson’s position. It’s a mess here now. It’s not often we make the news here.

REL’s claim of being the only one who knows how to build a cable makes me chuckle. I like to think Galen’s knowledge and Belden’s 123-years of manufacturing would take the prize on who makes the “better” cable. Wouldn’t reverse engineering make it impossible to have a “secret” filter on a circuit board?

I’m not sure if you can search the Iconoclast by Belden thread for REL. If you can, you will find a number of members who compared and posted their views. They then purchased our cables.

Both REL and Iconoclast/REL cables use silver soldered Neutrik Speakon connectors. REL’s cable does not specify the actual category or purity of their copper. The Baseline is an 18/3 conductor vs our “14 AWG,” OFHC purity copper, 105/34 strand conductors. We offer single, stereo and 6-pack configurations to match your application.

With REL you live with their option on lengths and a one size fits all spade. We do it your way on length, spade size and give you a more flexible cable. If cable management comes into play then these are important. If price is of concern then you will find our cable to be the winner leaving hundreds in your pocket.

You have the choice but I promise that you can trust us to deliver a very fine, affordable, handmade, flexible option delivering articulate, fast and accurate low bass. If you’re not completely happy then you have a month to return them and get a full refund. I hope someday that you might also listen to our speaker cables on your KEF’s to see what they really sound like😊.

Thank you for being a customer and part of the PS Audio and Iconoclast family!

Woolz: I have a REL 6 pack, ran the stock cable, then upgraded to the Baseline Blues cables and noticed improvement in base definition. I then replaced the Basslines with Iconoclast in 2022 and love them. You can read my review #4089, June 2022 on this thread.

Thank you DrPain. I found your review and am quite impressed with your ability to hear the distinctions. Your speakers must be superbly set up. I am going to order a pair of the 2 wire cables but not sure of the length. Did you try connecting from the speaker terminals rather than amp outputs? When I tried that I thought the sound slightly more seamless and richer, although I would not swear to it.

There are differences in the star quad, and not just noise reduction, but open-short impedance is lowered to better match the load. As the Vp drop significantly at lower frequencies, the ability to be eight-ohms is impossible and especially the lower in frequency you go. This is why the graph rises as we drop in frequency. Physics is the physics but design changes can improve things for us.

The arrangement to use 1310A four wires lowers the impedance over 1313A two wires. Many want to know the benefit(s) and the image shows exactly what the cable is really doing with measurements. Yes, the four wire method is more complex but adds a couple of measurable benefits. Two wire is good, but the four wire is the “best” for the really low-frequency stuff where the impedance changes are most pronounced.

We do use the actual calculated and measured data designing our products. For a more global benefit to using bi-wire go here - https://iconoclastcable.com/techpapers/Parallel-Bi-Wire-Effects.pdf

Galen

Woolz: I’m listening in a dedicated and treated audio room. I used the Amp outputs only. Seems to me if you are listening at the speaker terminals then you are listening to your speaker cable plus the REL cable. Which may not be the best setup, but okay if that’s what you prefer. Besides, my speaker terminals are being used to connect a pair of super tweeters.

Galen and Andrew are packed and ready to head to sunny Brandon,Tampa, Florida for this weekend’s Audio Expo. I hope those who attend will stop by and say hello. If you see anything you like then contact me for a special expo price. Should be great weather and a great show. Travel safely!

I had a chat with Galen at the show, really nice guy. He helped me with an issue I’ve been having with my locking banana connectors. I didn’t know there was a show special until I just read your message.

I’ve been unable to log into my PS Audio account for several days and am trying to resolve . Please send me an email to bhoward@iconoclast cable with your contact information. Thank you for stopping by the booth!

I’ve been very, very, very happy with my PSA system (Stella GainCell DAC/Ore), M700 mono-blocks, PS Audio PerfectWave SACD Transport, and Magnepan LRS speakers. Power cables for the past couple of years have been the “throw away”/courtesy ones! The only tweaks have been speaker placement.
I broke down and got at BAC power cable and WOW, just one, connected to the GainCell Dac/Pre —WOW, what an amazing improvement—the sound is cleaner, far more detailed, more lower register notes (LRS do have bass!) , and a deeper sound stage. And more separation between voices/instruments. Well worth it so far!

Next a cable for the Transport!

I should add, my wife is out of town for a couple of weeks so I am able to listen at levels that my system is capable of - - - :musical_score: :notes:
