Great stuff - and affordable. In the past I finished my TechFlex nicely with some heat-shrink sleeves, which you can get in various diameters also for little money. The ends can get frayed otherwise. When you shop for it, consider the diameter you need. They have a nominal size and can expand up to a certain diameter, which needs to be enough to go over any plugs you might have fixed on the cable. Ideally TechFlex goes on before soldering plugs on. Good luck.
This stuff…plenty of color choices:
Thanks Brodric
What, no green cables?
Dude, they’re blue
Sounds like, “not for long.”
I’ve been told by someone with a better esthetic sense and who is quite appealing to me that they should be black.
Tuesday I received TPC, OF, SPTC speaker cables to compare against the older Cardas hexlink 5c in use. No need to A/B as the first (TPC) was ‘in your face’ more detailed and ‘right’ than the warm but pleasant Cardas set - so just took them out as it was clear that an Iconoclast was to be kept. After several hours with TPC the only criticism I could put forward was that the brass/horns sounded thin, i.e. not the the natural tone.
After several hours, I switched in the OF Iconoclast and, to me, everything was amazingly clear, precise, detailed, up and down the entire frequency spectrum. I am thrilled to hear my system performing beyond expected. My wife, the critically negative (honest?) listener, exclaimed ‘that’s beautiful’ and validated the significant improvement = not slight.
I’ll wait at least a week to enjoy these OF versions before putting in the SPTC as I can not imagine much improvement here. My system is revealing, Wilson X1s, PL tube mono blocks, Krell SS preamp in a 6K ft3 open room (IMO, good room acoustic).
The Iconoclast cables are clearly top tier high-end cables at a reasonable price that should be included against the best cables, irrespective of price, when seriously considering an upgrade, BJC/Iconoclast allows a 30 day trial with no questions asked upon return. Only two sets w/bf returned by me. My apologies for the long post.
The nice thing about the leads, is that they do offer different soundstage tilts based on the copper, but even the entry level leads provide more music than conventional cable. And yes, it is a true IMPROVEMENT, not just different, but always better.
Each copper will offer a difference in soundstage width and front to back reach. Copper is indeed important, but the DESIGN sets the overall level of performance, and that’s the point. Better DESIGN is “free” as far as performance with more affordable copper so more users can experience truly better cables. Better is better but skip the design and materials won’t matter, though.
We hope the prices are comensurate with the sound, and that you feel the extreme quality we try to provide is fudiciary to the consumer.
Thank you for trying ICONOCLAST

dbeau,
Enjoy the OFC speaker cables. In my system they were “warmer” and “laid back” compared to the TPC.
"I’ll wait at least a week to enjoy these OF versions before putting in the SPTC as I can not imagine much improvement here. "
In my system the silver plating on the SPTPC speaker cables seems to contribute an improved “coherence” - (better yet than the OFC) time alignment across the upper frequencies/harmonics which I found as a clear improvement in imaging and soundstage across all frequencies.
Enjoy the SPTPC as well for some extended period… you may be surprised
OK, we will and would be pleasantly and very much ‘surprised’ by SPTPC as these OF cables sound so damned good. A week of OF should familiarize us enough to begin with SPTPC and still leave a week of back and forth between coppers, if necessary, before keeping one.
Thanks for your input as it does help guide me.
Davis, thanks for giving us a try. The OFE and SPTPC are very different sounding cables. Enjoy the comparisons. I look forward to hearing your comments.
Thanks Bob, the service from BJC is exemplary and the best cables I’ve tried or auditioned in dealers’.
I will critically audition to determine the best, to us, in our system and will put up my opinion and factors for our decision.
Did anyone have a chance to compare Iconoclast SPTPC vs Audio Sensibility Signature speaker cable? or vs Anticables Level 5 speaker cable?
I am considering upgrading my current speaker cable, Anticables level 3.1. I am considering Anticables level 5, Iconoclast SPTPC, Audio Sensibility Signature Silver, Wireworld Silver Eclipse 8. I am looking for impressions about these speaker cables’ “house” sound, if any. My goal is, do-no-harm, to have proper speaker cables to let my speaker, Focal Supra N2, and components (PS Audio DAC, BHK Pre, BHK300) shine. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
I may consider change my ICs to the same brand as speaker cable later, since I think my current ICs, Analysis-plus Solo Crystal RCA and XLR, Wireworld Eclipse 7 and Silver Eclipse 7 RCA and XLR, may not be the bottle-neck.
Thanks for the advice.
The nice thing about stepping up to Iconoclast OCC (pre & DSD) and SPTPC speaker cables from Nordost V2 & Tyr2 is having left over money to get more Shunyata Research power cables. I kept one of the really nice Nordost boxes as a reminder that mediocre sound wrapped in spectacular is still mediocre sound…
Not much direct comparison help here, but when I trialed the Anticable 3.1 (your version) to my older Cardas Hexlink 5c it was not as tonally correct and lacked as much dimension so the Anticable was returned. I am now trying all 3 copper versions vs. that Cardas speaker cable and the Iconoclasts are very very much superior, IMO of course. I believe that there would have to be a great step up in the v. 5 to surpass the Iconoclasts. Please let us know what you experience.
BTW, I have an Anticable power cable that is excellent.
Sopra No. 2’s in my system with BHK300’s & Audio Research LS28. Just upgraded 3 cables: speaker, XLR LS28 to BHK’s & XLR Sony SCD-XA5400ES SACD/CD player to LS28; all TARA Labs RSC Air Evolution. The sound is incredible.
Read the description of Tara labs RSC Air Evolution speaker cable, interestingly, it seemed to have several common design elements as Audio Sensibility, 8N copper vs OCC copper, both rectangular conductors, both use air tubes, but expensive. I guess I really need to listen to Iconoclast vs Audio Sensibility vs Anticables vs Wireworld.
I sincerely encourage this comparison so we can put the issue to rest. In my humble opinion of course.
Thanks for the encouragement. Compare all these may be time-wise difficult. I am hoping to get others’ experience with these, taking into account of my speaker and PS Audio electronics, in order to narrow down the choices. Focal supra N2 has a wonderful beryllium tweeter, airy, detailed, fast, bright in a good sense, but not harsh, I don’t want a speaker cable either pushing it into harsh and bright in a bad sense territory or mellowing it too much; the speaker also has tight and tuneful bass, but not very deep, so I want the speaker cable has good and extended bass performance. I also want the speaker cable with neutral and even mid-range to match Focal’s mid-range performance. Did I ask for too much? From the reviews and comments, it seemed that Iconoclast and Wireworld match my preferences better, maybe I compare them first. I haven’t seen many comments about Audio Sensibility’s treble and bass performance, just general comments like musical, organic, etc, may be a warmer cable than others?
