Yea man then I would have done the exact same as you!
I was terrified you were going to say the RAL knocked off the Dragon, which I know isn’t true. It’s wonderful that a cable you already own did! I wish I had that kind of luck!!!
I see the website for Wegryzn ! The company is in Arizona.
URL?
Looked to be defunct if I found the same site you did.
FYI.
Yea, for those interested I think you are out of luck. I do have a second 1M cable I would lend to a few of you but only because I am curious if you would say the same as me.
As I said, if my Wegyrzn broke tomorrow I’d buy the Dragon, since it cannot be replaced
In all fairness man even if it did thats just in my system and to my ears. The fact is I know the Dragon is one incredible cable. But I have found better
Ok phase 2!
I acquired a 1M version of the cable. So I have 1m and 2m. I was told digital cables need to be minimum 1.5m. But the excess length is currently just mingled with other cables of all kinds.
Thoughts? What works for you re digital cable length
I’d say it depends on the design and wire insulation type how it affects the skin effect or if insulation is als for RF and EMI. Shunyata only sells a minimum 1.5m Omega USB. Analog cables measure and sound different in length. Longer cost more for more material but terminate the same. More cable you have more antenna of power wires. I would say you will hear a difference. Some parameters will measure different. Tuning rings of 3m AB7050HF absorber seem to like same placement from connection ends on power cables Ac Or DC though cable lengths are different.
I personally do not believe in the 1.5m length “rule” for cables. But I am always sad when I buy a 1m cable. Always.
Al I could not agree more. I got a deal on two silver sonic DH Labs HDMI cables for $70. For some dumb reason I bought 1M. I could not use either in my HT as they were too short. What a dumb a** move.
Never adhered to an optimal length for digital or analog cables either. Frankly, my recent purchases have been with silver conductors and each foot can easily cost a grand. But, like you, I seem to regret the meter purchase, especially due to they are stiff as hell.
In HDMi short is always easy to knock off. Going to Inakustik siver Reference USB is longer than my Reference USB and connectors are so tight. The extra length is need for plastic legos holding the wires apart but bend is still good. Short ethernet cods are biggest disappointment the clips get stressed.
Galen just said this in his iconoclast thread. His cables i always heard better things short IC and speaker cables.
“And yes, the damage cables do is also definitely by the foot! Shorter is better to an extent. There is a length, 1 meter or so, that shorter isn’t an appreciable advantage.
Also be aware that we can make a cable shorter but never longer once cut. We remind people that moves and changes can run into length problems so don’t make your cables too custom to a fault.”
That is my primary reason for despising 1m cable purchases. Sure, when I bought it, that was all I needed. But needs change, cable lengths do not. Resale of cable is easier if they are 1.5m. Resale under 1m is usually pretty difficult.
My 1.25m Dragon works better than my 1m. I like it hanging looser so I have more room to put bright metal support underneath
