That does sound good! It’s a much better way to use pineapple than putting on dough.
Cheese and pineapple is right up there with cheese and fish. I don’t recall a single cheese and fish dish. When I was a kid I remember putting a slice of swiss cheese on a tuna sandwich and my nice Sicilian mother smacked my hand and made me take the cheese off.
You haven’t lived until you eat a breaded eye of Codfish fillet deep fried to a golden brown…placed on a fresh Italian bun…with sliced sweet onion…American cheese… and tartar sauce…served with your favorite glass of ice cold beer. Now that’s what I call living large!
My strong preference is a Sausage an Pineapple Pizza, hold the EMITs.
I will take one, hold the cheese!
Poked in to give the answer. I was born and raised in Hawaii until I moved to the New England in my thirties. As long as I lived there, I only occasionally saw a “Hawaiian” pizza (pineapple and ham). Some pizza places had it, but it was mostly in “tourist” areas. I don’t know ANY local person that ate it though.
Seems like once pineapple is thrown into/onto something, it automatically makes it “Hawaiian.”
SPAM on a pizza, or on pretty much anything, would sell out IMMEDIATELY.
