Blu ray and DVD-a

The SRV SACDs I have are all excellent.

Ted, what recordings do you have. I see the Texas Flood Boxed set is different than the single SACD's. Anyone want to chime to if they know what version ( mastering ) is better? Analogue Productions ( Sterling Sound ) or Mobile Fidelity.

Couldn’t Stand The Weather
Texas Flood
In Step
Soul to Soul
The Sky Is Crying

Some I haven’t listened to in years - I just put them on

Trying to figure if I should buy the Texas Hurricane box set from Analogue Productions ( Sterling Sound ) or each disc separate from Mobile Fidelity? Wonder what will sound better?

Most of my Blu-ray and DVD-Audio discs will not play. Some get a couple tracks in they stop. Menu only shows 3 tracks total?

Hopefully this is corrected in new software release. It would be nice to be able to listen to the 2 channel audio at least on the discs. The recordings I am speaking of don’t have video ( well maybe just song book pics ) Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Mojo is one that does not work.

SACD works fine, just bot any DVD-audio or Blu-ray. Oddly in the Oppo UDP-205 I can play disc in pure mode which turns off the video.

Would love to hear how you think it compares to Bridge II sound quality when you have it broken in.

Enjoy the tunes!!

Now that I have had hundreds of hrs on my DMP. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it blows away the Bridge II / Roon / Modded mac mini in every way!!! The bass, the air ( flipping outstanding ), noise, and soundstage is simply outstanding!

Now my music server is collecting dust! Not sure I will use it much, unless maybe for a party or house cleaning! LOL

PSA OUTSTANDING!!

Darren - Consistent with many of our findings. (Is that a sentence?)

I was recently getting into Tidal/Roon stuff again, and enjoying the accessabilty and so on, (which is undeniably better than stuffing discs in a transport) but then switched to the CD of the album I was listening to. No contest.

Started happily stuffing discs again.

Has anyone tried a Naxos Blue Ray Audio disc in the DMP? I saw one that I was interested in (Detroit Symphony - Copland) but would be good to know if anyone can confirm they play (I understand the limitations) prior to ordering.

Hi,

Just confirmed this morning that I’m able to play the Naxos blu-ray of Copland Rodeo, Dance Panels, El Salon Mexico and Danzon Cubano, performed by the Detroit Symphony, conducted by Leonard Slatkin. Likewise tried a bunch of other Naxos blu-ray discs with success. A problem with all of them is that I need to play the disc’s all the way through - I’m unable to navigate to specific tracks. The displayed track information (track number, elapsed/remaining time, etc.) is inaccurate and not very useful. When I play blu-ray or dvd-audio discs I most often use another universal player (Oppo or Cambridge Audio) for a more user-friendly experience.

Hope this helps!

Frankrondaniel, thanks for the information! I knew if it would play there would be no navigation, which is fine with me. Good to know it will play. I ordered it last week from NAXOS, hasn’t arrived nor have I gotten any notification from them, but they did charge my credit card! I’ll report back when the disc arrives.

Hopefully you have the same experience as I did with the Copland!

Was looking for something else and stumbled on this thread (again) and realized I had not responded as I said I would. The disc played all the way through, though the track stayed on 1 and the timer never moved, but it was all worth as the sound was glorious! After playing a couple of times I played around with track navigation, which didn’t work, but at one point I had track 256 come up! I’ll probably get more of the NAXOS Blu-ray Discs, but I won’t be getting them from NAXOS Direct… Took six weeks and the customer service was just awful.
