Blu Ray Play to DAC

Have sony Blu Ray/SACD player amd use an HDMI to my DSD Mk1 but no sound comes out… is there a remedy?

You need to use optical or coaxial–the HDMI on the DSD Mk I or Mk II is not the same “protocol” as standard HDMI implemented by the blu-ray player, so no sound will come out. Only a few transports are licensed and configured to transmit DSD (or any digital signal) via HDMI to the DAC. So nothing wrong, you are not meant to be able to use the HDMI out on the Sony with the DSD Mk I.

You can also look into something like the GeerFab Audio D.BOB “digital breakout box”… it’s a mouthful, but it is supposed receive HDMI output from universal players and convert this to DSD which can be sent to a DSD-capable DAC via coax.

You need to check that your DAC can receive the incoming signal, but they list supported DACs on their website.

HDMI protocol is different than the DSD input you’re using.
