Sony XA5400 ES SACD Player w/ DSD DAC

I’m looking at buying the aforementioned player in the title. Can I use the HDMI (I2S) to my DSD DAC for sound output?

Get a UBP-X1000ES (now 1100ES) or X800 (now X800 something)

You’ll also need a power supply with some current (Amazon has 5V/8A computer brick style power supplies).

The HDMI out on the Sony 5400 Sacd player is not I2S. It’s for multichannel SACDs used with compatible AV receivers.

Sony SCD-XA5400ES player has been in system for 11 years. Great player. No, HDMI output can’t be used to an outboard DAC. It was designed to be used only with Sony ES receivers enabled with their proprietary HATS (high quality digital audio transfer) system.
