Breaking Down the Bridge II

Paul

As always, thanks for the incredibly prompt and helpful reply. One last question. Does the type of hard drive matter? The minis give you the option of a Fusion drive but you can spend a lot more and get a flash drive. And is there an advantage to an internal drive?

Depends on the resolution of your system but generally speaking, in a high resolution system, it seems that solid state drives sound better than mechanical ones. Now, we know the bits don’t care - they are the same regardless of how they’re stored - so if one sounds better than the other, as is generally thought, then my guess is either radiated noise or power supply perturbations (or both) would be the cause.

My computer guru likes solid state external drives the best.

Thanks!
