Cable Sutra - Whisper Power Cord, Common Ground Cables

Not yet but my ears know. I have compared so many cables with the purple and I went back and played Whisper playlist i made on Qobuz. I can do that if you’re nervous. It clearly was a step change improvement.

Or is M-1 being so obviously better? I know the answer already. You do not have to try it just for me. Either way I am going to get my third coming birthday gift for myself, and there is still a couple of weeks until my real birthday. I need to walk away from this forum until July.

The purples are great in a LPS i plan on moving mine to the one that still has stock fuse and powers my router.

I am sure I will find a place for Purple somewhere in the chain. I only have two plus a lowly AM Ultimate.

My AM ultimate runs my DS. It is fine with the M-1.

Hi Vmax,
Glad you like the AM M-1.
I have two, one in the P20, the other in the preamp and 2 Purple in my amplifiers. I don’t have a fuse on my player because it’s battery operated.
Duncan finished my cable, it underwent its special “cooking”.
I await his comments on the effect of the Furutech NCF connectors… and especially to plug it in.

Just a few months ago I completed the purchase of noise stopper caps according to all unused input/outputs of my system. Thanks to Donald since 5 days I removed all of them and the sound is now really better.

Today I’ve just ordered an M1 fuse for my P20 and I’m pretty confident from VMax enthusiasm that all the other Purple fuses I bought to complete my system will soon end up in the same sad drawer with the caps.

Nice you are the first to get the NCF Furatech. I bet it will sound fabulous. I am sure @Duncan_Taylor will share what he hears at the next podcast installment. My elite only has the previous connector and that is fabulous. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Where do you plan to use the cable?

Thanks for the Beeswax M-1 nudge. It is a transformational addition and has added so much more ease and natural balance. I need to ride this wave for awhile. I am afraid to tweak beyond this point. But we all know how that goes.

We will always find a new gaget to go further… But that’s the game of the audiopgile.
The Elite cable will be connected between the P20 and a big DC Blocker. This is another gadget that aids the operation of the P20’s big transformer by eliminating “direct current” which is another type of electrical pollution.

Were you having transformer hum issues prior facilitating need for DC blocking? How did it change your sound? Before running dedicated lines one amp could be noisy. But I had my amps recapped , put in dedicated line and bought a P20 all at once. Ave had no further issues.

I have a dedicated power line, I have no hum issues. There is hum only if the DC problem is important.
For me, the DC Blocker gave more naturalness, better focus and more readable edges.
But if there is no direct current there will be no effect.
It is therefore to be tested to know because measuring the direct current is very difficult…

Thank you for your advise about M1 fuse, I placed an order too. So curious.

Which kind of DC blocker do you use between the wall and the P20?

Paul himself and many members here prefer avoid any kind of unit before and after regenerators, especially if there is already a dedicated line.

Hi, I know a lot of people don’t like putting something between the wall and the P20 but a DC Blocker is not a filter it only removes DC. It is therefore quite “neutral” unlike conventional filters.
I tested with an Isotek Syncro and when I heard it worked for me - it may not work for you - I ordered a big one from a craftsman.
It is an accessory to be tested because depending on the quality of the electric current it works or not.

I tried this one

without any results and removed it soon when I was trying to reduce a white noise issue from speakers caused by Stellar Preamp. It was so subtle that I decided I can live with it and am still happy now. It seems inherently present on the analog rig. Simply forgotten it after a while.

Well it took me long enough to try the @Vmax AB7050 tuning collar. Finally got my sheet, noticed the 12 month “shelf life” and the expiration date of 6 months from now, I guess that means this sat on a shelf for 6 months. Is the consensus that the expiration date is concerning the adhesive? Or is there some perishable element to this? Seems like that can’t be, but the label sure is curious.

Anyway. How does it sound? I was absolutely not prepared for this. It is not a subtle effect, in fact I’d put it on par with my recent upgrade in sound at my desk system with the addition of a Nordost switch and matching LPS. Sound is leaping off the speakers in an easier way than it did before. Depth is increased, dimension is increased and everything is more alive yet “right” at the same time.

I don’t use this trope often, but 2 minutes ago I explained the tuning collar to my wife, and she said the system did sound different. “More hollow” is where she started explaining the sound from all the way in the kitchen about 30 feet from the system. I offered “more holographic?” and she said that was more what she meant. She offered without prompting that it was clearly better. We were listening to Svaneborg Kardyb’s lovely track “Til Eline” from the recent album Haven. The recording is very holographic and there are some out of phase elements to some of the synth layers, so some of it should sound “hollow.”

I’m hearing a system on steroids right now. If pressed I would put the change in the high frequency largely, but I am hearing better resolution at all frequencies. It’s more like… I know the character of the system and how it sends music to my face. With the collar, the way it hits me is different, it’s more open and encompassing.

I didn’t try moving the collar - I used Darrell’s advice of an index finger distance from the back of the male plug shell on the Elite powering my P10. I might move it, but it’s hard to argue with what I’m hearing.

Holy crap. That’s all I have to say. Now I need to think about dressing up and packaging the collar with the cables - possibly as an add-on accessory - and compensating Darrell for his R&D!

Bravo. Treating the P10 internally with the absorber sheet is the next tweak on the tweak list.

I have been playing with cuts of pvc and abs with the AB7050 glued to the inside of the “collar”. My thought is the pipe can be sanded and painted to make it more attractive.

Of course this means putting the collar on during the build process.

If I still had a woodworking shop I would mill them from black walnut or spalted maple

Right. I’ve been thinking about a sewn and hemmed nylon cuff that can be removed, or a leather cuff. Maybe with a length of fishing line holding it to the correct distance, and an explanation that the user can snip and move the collar, etc.

A leather cuff is an interesting idea.

Sorta like a bracelet.

Perhaps a small silicone grip to grip cable. The tuning rings tend to slide with gravity otherwise and masking tape temp solutions loosen with amplifier heat.
