CAD Ground Control is Stereophile Product of the Year

Maybe not right now, but eventually you know I will not stop herešŸ˜† well, you know the feeling for sure!

PSM-156 needs a special type of connector too. I know my regular AQ Dragon cannot connect to it. Maybe that’s a good thing.

At Axpona last year one room had a five gallon pail filled with dirt in it. A copper ground rod went into the dirt. Many things were connected to it. Most amusing.

It was a Home Depot bucket. I think that makes a difference.

I don’t recall as my memory is shot, did it have a tuning ring as well?

A new product from CAD

I converted an old ethernet cable into the grounding wire (basically bare wire on one side) and inserted ethernet end into LHY SW-6, and I stuck other end into the last spot of Route GM Enhancer. So now ALL my components are connected to GM City and RGME. Today the sound has improved even more than yesterday.

I played a DSD128 DVD track from PST, then I played the same stored files from Lumin U2. Both sounded better than I remembered. They sounded remarkably similar to each other, and streaming sounds a bit more analog. Frankly, I cannot say which one I preferred.

Luca, just saw your post when I was typing. Are you going to demo it? Admittedly I have not read the link yet.

I hate to be ā€œthat guyā€, but the MSRP strikes me as a bit high given the price point of a number of competitors’ similar products.

Looking forward to reviews and user feedback…

ā€œNever say neverā€, that’s my motto.

I was told by Scott in November that he was going to launch it but I’ve not tried it yet. I agree about the price, I was hoping something around 4/500 euros.

I will probably give it a try, not soon anyhow.

A new listening chair is expected to be here Saturday, replacing a larger absorbing sofa. Other tweaks in passive treatments as soon as the acoustic engineer have studied my REW measurements. Next week 3 new STEALTH cables. Early in March the Tempus switch from Network Acoustics.

I’m afraid I’ll be busy enough for a while!

Glad to know you are enjoying the grounding route, Donald! Well done, my friend!

I am now following your footsteps, and please tell me those Stealth cables suck. I don’t even know which one you are getting this time.

Cloude Grande power cord, Dream V18 UNI power cord and… the brand new USB Double Collar! @aangen showed me the way, I just took a few steps in the direction indicated!

Sounds nice! I assume you will compare Stealth PC to Dragons, and USB to your assortment of other USBs. You’ll have some fun time, my friend.

Spoke to a distributor of Puritan gear today. There City have got a version of galvanic isolation inside to help get the ground safety right.

So that’s part of what’s inside the City’s ā€œboxā€

It’s a simple filter that allows high frequencies to pass and blocks 60hz, or so, to maintain the electrical safety ground back to the serving electrical panel.

Recently tried Puritan City placed in a Isotek star earth filter based power list. The most common recommendation is to plug it in as near the wall as possible.

The City was connected to the DirectStream Sr Mk 1 via RCA on an unused coax port.

The result was very very positive. The dac improved massively.

This means that there is no issue plugging in a Puritan City into a star earth filter power bar/list, at least not one from Isotek.

The City was placed in an unused outlet in the power bars ā€œhigh currentā€ outlet.

The same set up included an Isotek Syncro UNI sine wave rebalancer (dc-blocker).

Sum
If you use Isotek power cleaning and do not have an unused extra power socket at the wall… well that should not prevent you from using Puritan signal grounding via Puritan City.

@aangen if I remember well you own the bigger GC3, have you had the chance to compare it with the smaller GC1?

I received an offer to replace 3 of my GC1s with a GC3.1 and I’m tempted.

I only have experience with the GC3. It handles my needs so I never tried anything else. I will say, as far audible improvements go, ground boxes are at or near the bottom.

Maybe with less esoteric gear it makes more of a difference.

It better be better than a fusešŸ˜† or at least at the level of a fuse box considering how much they’re asking.

It definitely is not better than a fuse. Not even close. At least in my system.

I was told that the effects of earthing products are not the same in every system and house.
A sensible earth in the house and a sensible power supply solves many problems.
As I am currently also dealing with the topic of power supply, don’t call it a power strip , I came across Ansuz. The power distributors are also supposed to be pretty good and very dynamic. Ansuz has specially marked a socket that offers the lowest resistance to earth. The components with the most connections to other components should be connected to this. Usually preamplifiers or amplifiers. These components serve as a star point and then divert interference signals to the earth connection. The power cable on this should also have a good earth conductor with low resistance.
If this works, additional earthing such as Puritan Grandcity would not be necessary or would have less effect.
If the manufacturer has already marked the socket for this, that is helpful. Otherwise, all you can do is measure whether there is a difference in the power strip.
Others support the theory that devices with the most potential for interference should have the best possible earth connection so that interference can be quickly dissipated.
I also looked at the ground box from Lessloss, which uses modules to connect the current-carrying conductors to the earth in order to create a quieter background.
Greetings Andreas
