Al is right, weirdđ
Might be euro schuko plug on P20 doesnât doesnât have a dedicated ground likwe do to bleed off the noise.
Thatâs puzzling/not right.
It might be the difference between the 120v and 240v versions
Plugged to the P20
Plugged to the Puritan
Plugged to the wall
The cheap instrument canât be considered a serious meter, so take it with more than a grain of salt.
I donât/did not doubt your veracity.
PuzzlingâŚ
Sorry I wasnât reacting to your post, I trust in Paul and PS Audio so just sharing for positive discussion. Thanks
Have you ever tried plugging P20 into Puritan? I wonder how does that sound.
Iâm not sure what you are asking, I have the P20 plugged into the Puritan.
Brain dead, I mean PSM into P20.
Ah ok! Mmm good question! Never tried in effect.
Iâll try it after my vacation, if you have not tried that then.
When I decided on the P10, I borrowed an interference meter from my dealer. Maybe I should repeat that again. Back then, my wall socket was more dirty due to the many pumps at the garden pond. With P10 there were fewer external disturbances. But I think that with the P10 and P15, P20 the individual sockets are not interference-suppressed and the connected components can influence each other.
Per Paul as to the contempoary units, especially the P20, ânoise from one receptacle is isolated from any other.â
We are home all-day packing and taking care of things. Of course, the system is on all day too.
I had the LHY SW-6 switch moved to PSM-156 first, and frankly it made a very small difference. I like it better with P15 since there is more âlifeâ there. Then I moved SW-10 from P15 to Puritan. Well, this is different for sure. It has been over four hours, and the sound is getting nicer and nicer. Gradually Puritan seemed to suck out noises like vacuum. The streaming has the quietest background ever (much quieter than PST now), and it is not lacking soul either.
LHY SW-10 with Puritan is getting hard to walk away. I will need more time to evaluate after my trip. But I can easily see why you like Puritan better. For streaming there is nothing more important than reducing noise, and Puritan is killing it. For a pure streamer like you
the Puritan is additive (admit it).
I received the 2nd GroundMaster City plus additional 5 green cables (after two months of back order). So I installed all 8 grounding cables from the Route Master Ground Enhancer to all my components except the SW-6 switch (Donât ask me why I skipped it and you will get a stupid answer).
So my grounding setup is completed. I have one GM City connected to Puritan PSM-156, and one GM City connected to RMGE with all my major components grounded.
Interestingly at first I could not hear any difference at all, but slowly and I mean slowly ( 2 hours later). The sound is gradually getting better and better! Not only I am hearing dead silence background, but I am also hearing better detail, weight and soundstage.
After three hours the sound improvement is quite amazing! For all the various grounding devices out there, Puritan may have offered one of the lowest cost solution. I have to say I am very happy with the result and I am a believer now.
Do more expensive grounding devices offer even better result? I have no idea. But there is no question grounding device is another area of sonic improvement one should explore, for sure!
Glad to know about your results. As for CAD boxes, Iâm a big fan, they really work well in my system. The difference is evident when I remove them.
Unfortunately both my Ground Master Cities seem to be less impactful. Both connected to a PSM 156 (one for all my digital sources and the other for the amplifier).
Anyhow all my components are dead silent now and measuring EMI level from the Puritan outlets, Iâm happy to read the lowest values ever seen before.
Let us know how the Puron AC can helpâŚ
Since you have CAD already, the Groundmaster seems redundant, or they become less effective.
You have mentioned one time that you like Puritan Classic+ power cord better than their Ultimate cord. Is that still the case? I have both M1200 amps plugged into PSM-156. Although they donât draw crazy power, but I wonder if I should upgrade the cord to Ultimate.
Sure. I still prefer the Classic+ to power the PSM dedicated to digital sources, while I use the Ultimate (which I had as a reserve) to power the other PSM.
Iâve read from other WTB forum members who have tried Shunyata (and other fancy) cables to power their Puritans. Are you sure you want to know what they found? I wonât tell you⌠for your safe.
Maybe not right now, but eventually you know I will not stop heređ well, you know the feeling for sure!
PSM-156 needs a special type of connector too. I know my regular AQ Dragon cannot connect to it. Maybe thatâs a good thing.
